Such a tough topic but you did great answering with straight answers and not avoiding or acting squeamish. I try the same tactic when my kids ask the tough questions. I don't always succeed. Thanks for the honest post and sharing a moment that can be scary for both kids and parents to talk through.
I'll always remember camping on the surface of the sun last June. Despite the heat, it was a lot of fun. You are so brave to camp with little ones. I just couldn't do it. Both of mine were terrible sleepers and even though I have worked hard to give them a love of nature, they are both turning into glampers at best.
This is something we have struggled with a lot the past 6 months. It's rough to get my kids off the screens and doing something that doesn't plug in. Time limits work the best but it's tough to see my kids struggling to find something to do that isn't plugged in. They've lost a lot of interest in life's joys like riding bikes and just playing.
I totally agree Daria. They all talk back and are disrespectful. The characters on these shows are not role models. I just wonder why Disney and Nick seem to think kids are mindless.
Thanks JoAnn - I thought of you when I was writing this. I know you are in a great charter school that doesn't teach to the test. I wish we all focused more on what lies inside the building than the labels attached to them.
Science Fair really shouldn't be as intimidating as it feels. And yes, Amber, now you need to get started on that project! I can't wait to hear about the Johnson family science experiment.
Gretchen - You are a riot! And no, I could never give up sugar.
You are hilarious Gretchen! And it's way to early for holiday songs on the radio. The music makes me think of Christmas but I'm not sure I can handle almost 2 months of it. Over and over. And my vote is for Soy Eggnog. Tried it this year. Not bad.
Thank you Mary-Frances for sharing this. We all need to work together to educate voters in Jeffco to support our school system.
Amber - that is the big issue in Jeffco. There are a lot of retirees who no longer have children in the school system and who believe they have done their part to support the schools. Winning their votes is the biggest obstacle.
