El Sistem Colorado's Summer Strong Festival

AGES 12-18 | JULY 22-31
In this FREE 10-day symphonic extravaganza, string musicians ages 12-18 will explore topics like leadership, equity, social awareness, identity, and more – all through the joyful pursuit of musical excellence. Students will explore their music passion through orchestra rehearsals, instrument-based yoga and wellness sessions, electives like music history and improvisation, and conducting masterclasses. The festival will feature daily performances from El Sistema Colorado‘s faculty and BIPOC guest artists. This is an intermediate/advanced week-long day camp experience – musicians must be capable of performing Grade 2 orchestra music and above. No audition is necessary, but a reference from a music teacher/mentor is required on the application. Cost is FREE; priority is given to applicants from “low” and “very low” socioeconomic backgrounds as defined by the state and federal income guidelines and to students who live or go to school in the 80216 zip code.
