Romeo and Juliet @ Ellie Caulkins Opera House

In the spring, Colorado Ballet presents the Shakespearean love story Romeo and Juliet. This romantic ballet will take your breath away with extraordinary choreography by Derek Deane, exceptional acting an artistry by the dancers, and a phenomenal musical score by Sergei Prokofiev, performed by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra. From the energetic crowd scenes, to the famous balcony scene featuring the star-crossed lovers, we’ll bring the story of Romeo and Juliet to life. This ballet is recommended for ages 6th grade and up.

Colorado Ballet will close out its season with a collection of ballets in Ballet Director’s Choice, which includes Pillar of Fire by choreographer Antony Tudor with music by Arnold Schoenberg, Brief Fling by choreographer Twyla Tharp with music by Michel Colombier and Percy Grainger, and a third work to be announced. Pillar of Fire is made possible through a generous grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Little Mermaid, a Story Ballet @ Dairy Arts Center

Danse Etoile’s beautiful new ballet will re-imagine the classic Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale and take you on a journey beneath the waves, with original music score created by Composer Bruce Klepper alongside a mix of contemporary and classical music. Performances are June 8th at 7:30 p.m. and June 9th at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
