Contest: Win 1 of 5 Taste of Colorado $50 Certificates!

The 31st annual A Taste of Colorado will celebrate Colorado’s Western heritage and bright future throughout Labor Day weekend. Featuring entertainers showcasing the state’s cultural traditions and diversity, the four-day, free admission, food, music, and entertainment Festival will take place Aug. 29 through Sept. 1, in Downtown Denver’s Civic Center Park.

In addition to the Colorado Heritage Stage presented by Westword, the Access Health Colorado Main Stage and three other entertainment stages located throughout the Festival will serve up a continuous menu of music, including the KBCO World Class Rock Stage and the KYGO Country Stage. Plus, a fireworks light spectacular will illuminate Civic Center Park on Friday, Aug. 29, and feature synchronized lights on the City and County Building along with choreographed music by Jammin’ 101.5.
    
tasteMore than 50 of Colorado’s favorite food establishments will be selling a wide variety of small portions to full meals, ensuring that there will be something for every palate. The Fine Dining area will host some of Denver’s finest restaurants. The Albert Bartlett Culinary Showcase presented by 630 KHOW features local and nationally-renowned chef demonstrations creating simple, yet elegant meals.
    
Festival goers can shop in more than 250 Marketplace booths for original arts and crafts, home and gift items, furniture, jewelry, imports, and more. Fine Art in the Park will display original works in a variety of mediums created by artists from around the country. Shoppers also can explore the Home & Lifestyles area, which features a variety of exhibitors displaying products and services such as window installation, kitchen remodeling, cookware, basement refinishing, and salons and spas.

Kids Activities
    
Featured acts, including the Millibo Art Theatre’s “Suitcase Fairy Tales,” the Fast and Furious Speed Stackers, and the Sventastic Juggling and Circus Arts Extravaganza, will entertain on the Colorado Access KidzStage presented by MIX 100 at the 31st annual A Taste of Colorado. Children and adults can stay busy for hours with carnival rides, games, educational exhibits, and more. hamster1The KidZone is a family-friendly area offering play equipment, plus a great variety of free, hands-on craft activities. KidZone hours are 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Fri., Aug. 29; and 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sat., Aug. 30 through Mon., Sept.

Enjoy Carnival Rides and Games, located on Lincoln Street and Colfax Avenue, Saturday through Monday. EARLY BIRD wristbands can be purchased for $15 from 10:30 a.m. – 3 p.m., Saturday through Monday, and are good on the day purchased until 5 p.m. ALL DAY wristbands can be purchased for $25 from 10:30 a.m. until two hours before closing Saturday through Monday and are good on the day purchased until closing. Wristbands are only available at the ticket booths on Lincoln Street. Individual rides are also available for generally two to ten tickets per ride. Carnival hours are 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sat., Aug. 30 through Sun., Aug. 31 and 10:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. Mon., Sept. 1.

Other attractions located in the center of Civic Center Park include Water Balls (also known as “human hamster balls”), the Eurobungy Trampoline, the Human Gyroscope (also known as the “human gyro ball”), a zip line more than 100 feet long, an inflatable slide, and a ropes obstacle course. A toddler obstacle course can provide interactive fun for the little ones. These attractions take tickets only; wristbands cannot be used for these activities in Civic Center Park.

Deal

There will be 105 wristbands for carnival rides and games will be given away on Saturday, Sunday, and Monday for KOOL 105 listeners to pick up at the festival Information Booth on Broadway. Patrons must say they are a KOOL Insider – limit 2 per person. Wristbands are good for all day rides on the day the wristband is issued.

    Take a bite out of Labor Day by hitting the 30th annual A Taste of Colorado Aug. 30-Sept. 2, 2013 at Civic Center Park.

    More than 50 of Colorado’s favorite food establishments will be selling a wide variety of small portions to full meals, ensuring that there will be something for every palate. There will be plenty of music, magic, clowns, and puppets on the Comfort Dental KidzStage, and the KidZone features play equipment and hands-on craft activities. Kids and adults also can enjoy carnival rides and games Saturday through Monday.

    In the Festival of Mountain and Plain area, families can learn about the state’s pioneer past, nature, and the environment. Featured artisans will demonstrate Navajo weaving and culture, spinning, rug braiding, lace crocheting, felting, and quilting, along with the popular blacksmith demonstration. At the Raptor Education Foundation (REF) exhibit, children can learn about birds, their environment, and their interactions with humans.
