Perfect pitch

On June 21, Alamo Drafthouse Cinema takes it outdoors with a screening of the classic 1993 family film, “The Sandlot.” Catch all the free fun in the lakeside field of Sloan’s Lake Park (17th & Utica.) Gates open at 4 p.m., with activities ramping up around 6 p.m. and the film starting at dusk. Fittingly, organizers will be serving up baseball games and pitching more family-friendly adventures tied to the film. In addition, some of Denver’s tastiest food trucks will be on site selling food and beer. Free parking is available in the garage located at Conejos & Stuart. drafthouse.com/denver/littleton. Protein-packed

This puts the “grand” in grand opening. The Protein Bar is opening its third location in Colorado in just three months: Boulder opened in April, LoDo in May and now Glendale this month. On June 21, the eatery opens at 1390 S. Colorado Blvd., offering a selection of healthy bowls, wraps, salads and raw juices. The first 100 people in line (you must be 18+ with a valid ID, and no saving spots for friends or family) for Saturday’s 11.a.m. opening each get a $500 Protein Bar gift card. That’s no typo, a $500 gift card! There also will be a DJ, yoga workouts, giveaways and samples. Now, that’s not only protein-packed, but value-packed, too. theproteinbar.com

Fish tales

There’s something a little fishy about this freebie. Tokyo Joe’s is celebrating International Sushi Day on June 18 with (what else?) sushi. Addict Club members can flash their fob and get a free 4-piece California or spicy tuna roll — no purchase necessary. Limit one per customer. If you’re not a member of its free loyalty program, you can easily sign up online. Members are offered exclusive monthly discounts. tokyojoes.com/addict-club

Crafty kids

Let kids get creative this summer with Michaels’ new Passport to Imagination Museum Road Trip. For just $2 per workshop, children ages 5 to 12 make a take-home craft inspired by seven of America’s most fascinating museums. Through Aug. 1, a different museum is highlighted each week with two-hour workshops every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to noon. A new art project is offered at each session, so kids can get “crafty” three times a week or pick the one they like best. The program is ideal for youngsters who enjoy learning about nature, science and art. Don’t miss Week 5, when the Denver Art Museum is featured. Registration is required. michaels.com/passport

Denver Deal: PJ Party, Harkins Summer Movies and Half-price Drinks

I absolutely love going to the theater and I recently saw the show Once. (I have to admit is was more of a date night thing than a family deal). For me, there is such an electricity around getting dressed up and going to the Denver Center. This show was a simple love story that centered around the music. Although I can’t say that I really know the tunes to this show like I do Oklahoma (we performed that one in High School – so I SHOULD know all the words) – but the music is hummable (yes, that’s a word!) and the cast extremely talented. It is a great escape if you are looking for a good night out with music and laughter.

Elitch Gardens is offering a great deal on Season Passes again this year. You can experience roller coasters (like the new Brain Drain), Ferris wheel, carousel, water park and more. *this is not a complete list of all the rides, concerts, movies or benefits
