Denver Deal: Free Days, Smiling Moose, Stock Show and More

I have often thought that New Year’s and the resolutions that go along with it are typically something NEW. Something different from what I’ve done in years past. Like somehow, going “back” is well…going backwards. But this year one of my resolutions was to do more hiking. This is something I have often enjoyed – after a great hike on Saturday. I realized that going back to what you love is in no way going backward. Rather, it is one step ahead in a direction I’d like to go.  Stock Show. The National Western Stock Show and VISIT DENVER have joined together to say thank you and celebrate the passing of ballot measure 2C with a FREE day at the 2016 Stock Show.  Denver voters and all stock show fans will receive free grounds admiss...

Denver Deal: Stock Show, Free Days, Noodles and More

I am the Deals Editor. I don’t often play the Powerball (and I rarely have cash because I can’t track where it goes). But I decided this week to play. I mean really, if it is $1.3 Billion – with a “B” – I may win right? Do you dream about what you will do with your money? That was exactly what I was thinking on my run yesterday. But I realized that Deals are so ingrained in me I would still probably look for a deal – a way to make my money go further. Would you? Stock Show. The National Western Stock Show and VISIT DENVER have joined together to say thank you and celebrate the passing of ballot measure 2C with a FREE day at the 2016 Stock Show.  Denver voters and all stock show fans will receive free grounds admission on January 19 during...

Denver Deal: Outlets at Castle Rock, Clothes Mentor, Peet’s and More

My son turned 16 this past weekend. (He’s not driving just yet – he will take the test in about a month). I always thought 16 was a monumental birthday and had plans for making his special. He says it is just any old birthday and doesn’t understand the hub-bub. I think this really was his excuse to just to something with friends and not be with mom. So I ask you, what are monumental birthdays in your mind? Do you start making plans when your kids are babies to do something special at 13, buy them a car at 16, take them to Vegas when they turn 21 or is that just me? (So far I’m 1 for two – he didn’t get a car!) Outlets at Castle Rock. Still need to fit in some Christmas shopping? Don’t miss the Outlets at Castle Rock’s Last Chance Sale Dec. 20...

Denver Deal: Mountain Khakis, Winter Fest, ARC and more!

There seems to be hub-bub over the 40s for me right now. Not only did my daughter and I have the White Christmas Ball this last weekend – but I also am going to an aunt’s birthday party which is themed after the 40s (this weekend). It is so much fun to roll my hair in ways I didn’t think it would go, the skirts are forgiving of my not-so perfect shape and they certainly had more sensible shoes than what I regularly wear now. Have to give it to those Haynes Sisters and Rat Pack – they really did know how to entertain. But really it is all about putting us in the mood for Christmas and it did for certain! Outlets at Castle Rock. In anticipation of the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Outlets at Castle Rock is inviting guests to ‘Rock The Force’ on Sa...

Denver Deal: Free Days, Veteran Deals, Consignment Sale and More

I recently went to a fun Detective Dinner with my kids that we booked through Vimbly.com. Vimbly offered MileHighMamas a gift certificate to try out the service. It was simple to choose a fun and interactive event to participate in (I will write a post shortly about our night). The choices were plentiful from exploration, adventure, eating, drinking and more. The process for making our choice, registering, checking out and what I liked best was the reminder emails.   Denver FREE Days November 9 – Denver Museum of Nature and Science November 11 – Molly Brown House November 13 – Both the Denver Zoo (all day) and the Still Museum (from 5 p.m to 9 p.m.) November 13 & 14 – Denver Botanic Gardens Veteran’s Day. Do you know a military fam...

Denver Deal: Denver Arts Week, Ski Expo, Santa Arrivals and More

Last year it seemed that there were several stores that were in a race to see who would be open on Thanksgiving. This year it seems to be quite the opposite. Stores are proclaiming loud and clear that they will NOT be open. Among the stores are TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Nordstrom, Costco, Sam’s Club, Staples, and REI. While you and the staff of these stores may have to enjoy Thanksgiving at home, you may have a chance to get your time with Santa long before then.  Denver Arts Week. Denver Deal: Noodles, Chili’s, Kneaders and More

How early do your kids start thinking of what they will be for Halloween? At what age do they stop trick or treating? I sort of miss the cute trick or treating days (my kids at 14 and 15 years old have no intention to trick or treat this year – but are already plotting their costumes). I typically purchase candy that I like to eat in case I don’t hand it all out but maybe I shouldn’t do that and my waist wouldn’t feel the effects. I recently read a post on Facebook that some neighbors are trying to be conscientious about the neighbor kids peanut allergies and gluten-free diets with the Teal Pumpkin Project. Is this something you care about?  Noodles. Noodles is celebrating their 20th anniversary with 20 days of giveaways. The first of which is on Oct 20 you get...

Denver Deal: McDonalds, Free Day, Free Flu Shots and More

While the rest of the world turns everything in to Pumpkin Spice something-or-another, I have an obsession of another kind. I can not get enough of Jonathan apples. I literally take the “apple a day” mantra to heart. It is only at this time of year that I can seem to get my hands on them. They are cheap at just 88 cents a pound at my favorite store, Sprouts. How much longer will the Pumpkin Spice fad last? I’m not sure, so long as no one else turns my Jonathan apples into a “thing” and there are still plenty for me – I’ll be OK. McDonalds.  Hurray for Breakfast all day! Starting Tuesday, October 6 McDonald’s will offer breakfast all day. On October 7th, participating McDonald’s restaurants throughout the state will initiate a s...

I recently had the opportunity to see the show LookingGlass Alice at the Denver Center (Stage Theater).
