This two-part concert series will engage young learners with the instruments of the orchestra and the performing arts. Register for both concerts at the same time and receive a 10% discount off tickets.
Unique Concert Experience – 10:15AM
During the performance, the audience is encircled on all sides by 16 professional musicians and additional guest performers while the conductor faces the students in the audience and teaches them about the music as it’s being performed. Students are encouraged to think creatively, musicians will give short demonstrations, and students will get to think critically and creatively about the music.
January 2020 Performance: Learn all about the string and woodwind families at this performance. How does a double-reed instrument make its sound? How tall is a string bass? What is the highest sounding instrument in the orchestra? Learn the answers to all those questions and more.
May 2020 Performance: The music performed will feature the loudest and shiniest instruments of the orchestra – the brass and percussion families. Kids will delight in trumpet fanfares, learn about some of the hundreds of percussion instruments, and one student will even get the chance to play along with the orchestra (but don’t worry, no previous musical experience will be required)!
