Denver Zoo’s NEW 570-acre preserve and conservation center

The Denver Zoo is about to get bigger and better than ever! For more than 128 years, Denver Zoo has existed as an urban campus with a finite geographic footprint, historically limiting the space it has available to make a significant impact for wildlife. That will soon change with the opening of The Lembke Family Preserve, an expansive 570-acre facility in Weld County that leads off a transformative year for the Zoo and will serve as a pillar of its future animal care and wildlife conservation efforts. Construction has begun with phase one facilities and infrastructure under development. The Lembke Family Preserve will not be open to the public. “The Lembke Family Preserve represents the start of a new era for Denver Zoo and will dramatically expand our capabilities for our animals an...

Denver Botanic Gardens exhibit weaves science and art together

Using data about our warming climate, Tali Weinberg’s textiles weave together science and art to tell stories of land and water, people and landscapes, and ecological and human health. The weavings and sculptures represent connections between humans and the vast changes taking place around us. Tali Weinberg: The Space Between the Threads marks the artist’s first solo exhibition in Colorado. It is on view March 3 – June 9, 2024 in the Freyer – Newman Center and is included with Gardens’ admission.   The Space Between the Threads features 26 works, two of which are new, large-scale, sculptural weavings. One of the new works, Heat Waves/Water Falls, uses hundreds of feet of medical tubing and the other, Heat Waves, is a semi-transparent weaving. Both are suspende...

The PAC selected 14 new, tiny art works to be installed in unexpected places in Golden’s oldest park, Parfet Park and on the Washington Avenue bridge over Clear Creek. Colorado artists created art pieces with names like, Fairies Gather Here, London Calling, Firefly Lantern and When Pigs Fly and installed them around Parfet Park to compliment the first round of Itty Bitty Art intro...
