Olympic Games: Watch these awesome Colorado athletes

Olympic Games: Watch these awesome Colorado athletes

Are you excited to cheer on Team USA? The Olympics will begin on July 26. Although Colorado has never hosted an Olympics (Colorado has the unique distinction of being the only place that won a bid to host the Olympics and turned it down), we do often send several athletes to the Olympic games. We do recommend it if you have not visited the Olympic Center in Colorado Springs.

NBCUniversal’s coverage of the Olympic Games Paris 2024, scheduled for July 26-Aug. 11, features more ways for viewers to watch their favorite events, competitions, and athletes than ever before, covering broadcast and cable networks, streaming service Peacock, Spanish language, theater experiences, extensive accessibility, social media, audio, and more. Busy, but want to stay in the know? You’ll love catch-up highlights: While you wish you could take a vacation just to watch the Games, you’ll have the next best thing with Catch-up Highlights on X1. You’ll be able to quickly jump to top moments in recorded primetime and daytime Olympic coverage on NBC, as well as basketball, soccer and golf.

How to watch the Olympics

For the Paris Olympics, NBCUniversal provides access to more live action and ways to watch than ever, with 5,000 hours of live coverage, 39 sports, 329 medal events across nine different networks, and streaming on Peacock. See more tips here for watching the Olympics!

How can you celebrate beyond watching it on TV? For years, I have had a watch party for the opening ceremony of the Olympics at my house. I usually would make the menu from the country that was hosting the Olympics. I thought this year would be pretty simple with a baguette and a hunk of cheese (we can skip the escargot) finished off by crème brulee, a macaron, or a crepe. We might even dress up in a striped shirt and a chapeau [hat].  We then settle in to watch the parade of athletes on TV.
Visit the Magnolia Hotel’s Harry’s Restaurant in Parisian style for the Le Grand Opening Party. From 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday, July 26 enjoy a festive French atmosphere with French-inspired music, bar games, two specialty cocktails and Parisian food. There will be giveaways and prizes. Tickets are $30 per person. Or head to Number 38, who will also host an Olympic Watch Party on their big screens with delicious food and refreshing drinks.

Denver doesn’t have anything like the Seine to swim in – but you could go swim in the Colorado River. But if you really want to get into the spirit, gather some of the neighborhood kids – take them to the pool and the neighborhood High School track. Be sure to grab some USA flags and a few metals (you can get these at Amazon, craft stores, or Walmart) and create your own Olympics.

Go USA! Go USA! Go USA!
