Strong women (and men) unite!
The Center for Colorado Women’s History is a history museum that focuses on the bold stories, memories, and experiences of women of Colorado. Located in the heart of Denver, The Center offers bold exhibits, personalized tours, and special events year-round. Take a stroll through the museum on a 45-minute guided tour, or stop by for a quick visit to the gift shop and gardens.
The Center is located within an Italianate style historic home built in 1883, and restored to the 1912-1924 period. Guests who choose to tour the museum will find themselves surrounded by domestic objects and art of a bygone era. See keepsakes and mementos from the past, while hearing remarkable stories of Colorado’s women pioneers. Learners of all ages are welcome to participate.
In addition to guided tours, the Center for Colorado Women’s History currently features Rumors of Bloomers, an exhibition highlighting the ways undergarments have given form and shape to bodies, while also expressing identity, autonomy, agency, and protest.
The Center for Colorado Women’s History is the first state museum focused on the past, present and future achievements of Colorado women. The Center for Colorado Women’s History focuses on scholarship, research, public programs, narrative, lectures, school tours and exhibits that expand the understanding and collective memory of the history of women in Colorado. The Center is a space for adventurous dialogue and challenging questions that:
- Generate new knowledge and understandings of women’s role in history – within Colorado and beyond
- Reflect the diverse audiences of Colorado
- Share and collect stories that represent the lives and work of all women in Colorado’s past and present
