Classroom Readiness Group – Pre-School and Kindergarten
Summit Pediatric’s Classroom Skills groups provide children with classroom-like experiences in order to better prepare them for the school environment. Each group is 60 minutes long and is structured as a condensed version of a typical preschool or kindergarten day. Children will be screened to determine which group is the appropriate place for them to succeed. Their Classroom Skills 1 is intended for those learning and/or working on following typical classroom routines. Skills targeted in this group include: *Attending and participating in a small group circle time. *Using language to engage with peers/teachers. *Participating in structured table activities. *Foundational fine motor skills. *Participating in cooperative play and movement activities. To participate in this group, children should be able to separate from their caregiver, transition with minimal support, participate for the full session independently, and follow directions with cues. Locations: Centennial, Denver, Littleton, Parker & Westminster. Classroom Readiness – Summit Pediatric Therapy (summerpedstherapy.com).
Social Skills Group
Summit Pediatric Therapy’s social skills groups are designed to help children and teens gain necessary life-long skills in school, in friendships, and beyond. They focus on developing age-appropriate skills including turn-taking, sharing, waiting, listening, and much more. Social skills include far more than the ability to communicate with other people. They’re crucial to making friends, succeeding in school, and getting and keeping a job. Groups are tailored to each child’s individual needs and provide built-in learning time, while also allowing time for peer interaction. Social skills will be practiced within a positive environment. Group leaders can use this time to coach children in “real life” interactions and promote successful social interactions. This increases one’s self-esteem and provides the confidence to try new social behaviors with peers outside the group. 60 minutes per week, Times Vary per location. Locations: Centennial, Denver, Littleton, Parker & Westminster. Social Skills Group – Summit Pediatric Therapy – Speech OT PT (summitpedstherapy.com)
