Deals: Lunar New Year, Sweetheart Festival & more!

I can’t help it. I sort of want to root for the Kansas City Chiefs this Super Bowl. But in any case, I think the Super Bowl is a win. It is a time to get together with friends and throw a party without having to think about entertainment – and the food…well, they are usually snacky things instead of a meal. So, there’s limited cooking too! Costco even has a football cake for just $16.99.

Lunar New Year.  This is the year of the dragon for Chinese New Year. There are several ways to celebrate – and bring good luck to your year. On February 9 celebrate at the Town Center of Aurora from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. with lion and dragon dances, traditional crafts and Asian food. February 10 head to the Far East Center (Alameda and Federal) to take part in day long festivities 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. or Southridge Recreation Center from noon to 4 p.m. (Tickets $10) or head to George Washington High School from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm. for the awesome cultural fair (Tickets $25)

Loveland Sweetheart Festival. Celebrate LOVE in Colorado’s own, LOVEland! Bring your family and enjoy live ice sculpting demonstrations, live music, art installations, local beers, interactive activities and more on February 10.

Valentine’s Bazaar. Aspen Grove will host the Valentine’s Bazaar on February 9 & 10 featuring over 60 local makers at their indoor shopping Marketplace. The festivities will include live music and a bar. Free horse-drawn carriage rides on Friday 4 p.m. to 8 pm.; DIY Flower workshops (tickets required), Photos with Cupid (benefitting Colorado Pet Pantry) on Saturday from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.  Find your perfect Valentine’s treat. While you’re there, if you spend $300 or more at Aspen Grove stores you receive a $25 Gift Card at the new Pandora Shop.

Mardi Gras Petite Parade. Denver may not have the parades that flow through New Orleans, but we know how to have our own style of family fun.  The Dairy Block will celebrate the 6th Annual Petite Parade on Sunday, February 18 from 12 noon to 2 p.m. The parade will be The Maven’s Windsor Room with entertainment, dancing and Mardi Gras festivity for the whole family. The event is free – but float participants must register.

Denver Restaurant Week. We don’t usually write about things so far in advance (usually just within a week or two). But Restaurant Week is something you certainly don’t want to miss – and reservations are recommended. The event happens March 1-10. Your chance to dine at restaurants that maybe you haven’t tried before – or even sometimes those that just don’t fit your budget.

Hey Dude Shoes. Hey Dude shoes are some of my family’s favorite. They are easy to slip on and you can wear them with or without socks. If you have been waiting – don’t. Select styles are on sale for 60% off on their website – making some as low as $19.99

Golf Expo. Are you or is someone you know really into golf? Check out the Golf Expo at the Colorado Convention Center February 16-18. More fun and deals than you can shake a stick at!

Two Awesome Staycation Deals.
