Deals: Stock Show Guest Appreciation Day, Chinese New Year in Denver & More!

Do you really want to go all out and make the National Western Stock Show and Rodeo a full experience (with a capital E)? Hotel Born has a fun package (although maybe not a DEAL). The Stock Show Shopping Spree package is now available for booking and includes one night in Hotel Born’s Presidential Suite, handcrafted boots from Lucchese, and a gift card to dine at Tamayo in Larimer Square. But the deal starts at $3,000. Have you looked at Lucchese boots? They are so beautiful. Yeah, I just said boots are beautiful.

 Free Days. We have posted the list of all the free days again this year. Mark this page and make a New Year’s Resolution to go to a few of these! This week there are a handful of free days:

·            January 19 – City of Aurora Open Space & Natural Resources

·            January 19 – Plains Conservation Center

·            January 22 – Denver Zoo

·            January 23 – Denver Museum of Nature & Science

 Stock Show. The National Western Stock Show is back at the Denver Coliseum.  There is the actual Stock Show – meaning all the livestock and there are rodeos. When you purchase a rodeo ticket, it gives you access to the stock showgrounds all day. So make a plan for a whole day of fun. Here are some great ways to get deals on tickets or participate in the fun.

·        Groupon has tickets for as little as $16 for different events – rodeos, bull riding, dancing horses, and Xtreme dogs.

·         Sunday, January 22, is Guest Appreciation Day. Grounds Admission is $12 for adults; and only $4 for kids 3-11; kids two and under are free.

Chinese New Year. Chinese New Year is actually a multi-day celebration. The incoming year of the rabbit. There are celebrations across town including:

·         Saturday, January 21 at the Southridge Rec Center in Highlands Ranch from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. includes dragon and lion dances, martial arts demos and musical performances. Tickets are $10 each.

·         George Washington High School will host Chinese New Year Celebration from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 pm. on January 21 for free you will enjoy arts, crafts, cultural displays, children’s games and more

·         Jade Mountain Brewery and Teahouse will host Kung Fu demos, lion dances, vendors, food, drink and more on Saturday, January 21 from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

·         Far East Center on Alameda and Federal will have a celebration from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 22, Saturday, January 28 and Sunday, January 29.

 Loveland Wedding. Every year, Loveland hosts a wedding on top of the Mountain on Valentine’s Day. Plan your Marry Me & Ski Free (buy one get one free lift tickets).

 Del Taco. Del Taco is starting the year off with 31 days of deals with a free item from the special menu every day plus score deals on 20 under $2.  The offers and details are in their app along with the calendar of what is the deal of the day. (The free item does require a $3 purchase).

National Popcorn Day. National Popcorn Day is Thursday, January 19. AMC Theaters will offer half off popcorn any size (no membership required) on that day or you can get the bucket for $20.99 with your Stubs membership.  When you purchase the bucket deal you get to refill the bucket for just $5.95 every time you bring that bucket back in during 2023. Cinemark Theaters, Regal Cinemas and Harkins Theaters are also offering popcorn at 50% off on January 19. Landmark theaters are offering buy one get one free.

Maven at Dairy Block Movies. Revel in the cinematic magic of the big screen with the new Mavens of Movies series at LoDo micro-district Dairy Block. Perfect for a date night, an evening out with friends or quality family time. The first one is Top Gun: Maverick on Sunday, January 29. Movie starts at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 each for general admission seating, with free popcorn and candy included. Mountaineering Weekend. From February 18-19, YMCA of the Rockies Estes Park Center will host its 8th Annual Mountaineering Weekend – an all-levels, family-friendly introduction to the outdoors. Activities include a winter ecology hike, survival classes, ice climbing demos, fire quest classes and more. 

Sam’s Club Hot Dog. I love the $1.50 deal for a hot dog and soda at Costco and Sam’s Club. But, Sam’s Club for the pricing win, just dropped the deal to $1.38!
