Family storytime at Snooze with Reach Out and Read Colorado!

Family storytime at Snooze with Reach Out and Read Colorado!

Reach Out and Read Colorado invites you to family storytime and breakfast for dinner at Snooze!

On July 28th from 6-8 p.m., join Reach Out and Read Colorado for a breakfast buffet generously provided by Snooze, an A.M. Eatery and a read-aloud with local children’s book author Lauren Kerstein.

Lauren is an author and psychotherapist. She is a Jersey girl at heart who lives in Colorado with her husband, their two dragons…er, daughters, and their rescue dogs. Lauren is the author of the Rosie the Dragon and Charlie picture book series (Illustrated by Nate Wragg/Two Lions), and she will be reading Rosie the Dragon and Charlie Say Good Night on July 28 with accompanying activities for the kiddos.

The event will also feature book giveaways!

Proceeds from the event will benefit Reach Out and Read Colorado, a Denver-based nonprofit that gives young children a foundation for success by incorporating books into pediatric care and encouraging families to read aloud together.

Reach Out and Read Colorado provides a new language- and developmentally-appropriate book and empowers pediatricians to talk with parents of young children about the importance of reading aloud at regular check-ups, with a special focus on children growing up in poverty. By building on the unique relationship between parents and healthcare providers, Reach Out and Read Colorado helps families and communities encourage early literacy skills and healthy family connections from birth, so children enter school prepared for success.

“Books not only promote early childhood literacy, but they also build and strengthen family connections. It is so uplifting to hear our families talk about their dedicated reading time. I have seen so many children excited to spend time reading with their parents or grandparents. Reach Out and Read Colorado is such a blessing for our families, many of which wouldn’t have regular access to books, especially in their native language, without the program. Thank you!” – Reach Out and Read Colorado Pediatrician

Reach Out and Read Colorado currently partners with 326 healthcare clinics to serve children from all of Colorado’s 64 counties and provide over 230,000 new books each year.Snooze
