Children's bookstore Boulder

Love books? Love Pearl Street in Boulder? This exciting announcement is for you!

After seven years of being in business, beloved children’s bookstore Second Star to the Right has finally found its forever home on South Pearl Street in the Platt Park neighborhood.

Second Star to the Right first opened in November 2014 when former elementary educator Dea Lavoie wanted to find a way to share books, resources and stories with children and educators all over the Denver metro area, not just in the classroom. Reading Room BoulderSince she first opened the doors to her business, Dea has been committed to providing a diverse range of books, events and programming, both in the store and in the surrounding community. With this new location, Second Star can finally plant roots and begin offering the kind of events and programs that Dea has always dreamed of.

“For the longest time, we were so focused on where the store would be and which location or which building felt right. When we first looked at this location, just for a temporary spot while we had construction done, we fell in love right away and knew that this would be Second Star’s forever home. Everything just felt right,” Dea said of the move. “This location offers a beautiful backyard escape where we can host more events or where families can just be together and enjoy stories.”

The new location features a brick patio out front, along with a beautiful, grassy backyard where Second Star plans to host events, birthday parties, classes, yard sales and a whole range of other family-friendly activities!

Storytime is Monday-Saturday at 10 a.m. for songs, stories and more fun. Second Star also has educational resources through their Home Learning Program.
