I have a longtime obsession with Tieghan, the Colorado food blogger from Half Baked Harvest. Not only did she recently come out with a new cookbook but the recipes on Instagram and her blog are fresh, reasonably simple and usually ingredients I have at home. Her light and fresh Easter recipes are perfect for gathering with friends and family for brunch or dinner with sweet brunch recipes, quick appetizers, and dessert. Her cookbooks: Half Baked Harvest Every Day: Recipes for Balanced, Flexible, Feel-Good Meals *New!* Half Baked Harvest Super Simple: More Than 125 Recipes for Instant, Overnight, Meal-Prepped, and Easy Comfort Foods Half Baked Harvest Cookbook: Recipes from My Barn in the Mountains Also, don’t miss Easter in Denver: Hunts, the Easter Bunny and Denver Brunches wit...
Boulder has its own special earthiness. I have lived there (college) and worked there. I have been around on a daily Earth Day. It gets made fun of (or at least eyes rolled) in most other parts of the metro. But on this Earth Day (April 20), I urge you to find just one thing that is maybe common sense for someone who has spent time in Boulder. Drink out of refillable bottles (not the plastic), eat on a regular plate (or at least if you have to eat on a paper plate make it recyclable) and try to eat more veggies. I swear these small little hacks won’t hurt you one bit and will do good for you and the planet. When my son was about five, he went through an extremely annoying phase. Everything he said had to be prefaced by, “Do you know something?” And I mean everything My responses are varied but usually, I said, “Yes, I know everything.” Undaunted, he blabbered on. One day, he and his BFF Seanie had an entire conversation that had to be prefaced with “do you know something” each time they spoke. It was the longest playdate ever. My husband hit his limit when Bode tried to get his attention. Bode: “You know something?” Jamie: “Stop saying that! Just say ‘Hey Daddy.'” Bode: “OK. Hey Daddy, do you know something?”

It’s certainly a g’day when Australia comes to Denver! Denver Zoo announced plans for “Down Under,” an Australian- and New Zealand-themed experience that will allow guests to get up-close with many of the region’s diverse—and often extreme—species. Denver Zoo’s New Down Under Exhibit Here is what you’ll find at the Denver Zoo’s new Australian exhibit: At its core will be a walk-through wallaby area where guests will be immersed in the animals’ habitat. The Zoo’s first “conservation station,” which will allow guests to put into practice conservation learnings and actions. It will also feature new and improved habitats for some of the Zoo’s current residents, including cassowaries and keas, and space for educational programming and small events. “The closu...
I heard about this on a podcast several months ago – and now…it’s coming to Denver!! I can’t wait and have already picked out my white dress (which also may make an Easter appearance)! Smashburger. I’ve always believed it’s important to instill magic in my kids’ childhood and my husband and I have played along with the Tooth Fairy, Easter Bunny, Santa et. al. We’ve been careful to never put too much credence into them but my kids’ overactive imaginations have taken care of that. For Christmas, we’ve kept the Santa presents to a minimum and he only brings them a couple of their requested gifts and stuffs their stockings. Mostly because I want the credit to go to me, not some plump dude sporting fur. When my daughter was 8, she started building a leprechaun trap and I had forgotten about it until I heard her setting it up the night before St. Patrick’s Day. My first thought: Crap, now I have to do something so made up a few mischievous leprechaun tricks. When she was in second gra...
At Renaissance Adventure’s Quest Camps, children and teens become the warriors and wizards, the fairies and bards, that embark on an epic adventure looking to save the kingdom. Each Adventure Quest week offers a new adventure taking brave travelers to strange and exciting lands where conflict has arisen. Every camper chooses an archetypal character as their persona to play out in the quest. Each character offers special skills to aid the group as they journey through their quest. How will the problems be solved? Perhaps a riddle must be answered, or a bullying ogre needs fending off. Maybe the questers must traverse a giant rope spider web to complete the task. Participants might need to test their challengers with a duel using safe, foam swords. Wherever the advent...
