Colorado’s Birthday. Colorado became a state on August 1, 1876. On Colorado Day, History Colorado is offering free admission to their museums across the state. With the biggest celebration at History Colorado Center – from alpacas to mascots to professional chalk artists, there will be more than 20 attractions surrounded by live music provided by local artists, including taiko drummers to jazz guitars. Free Days. We compiled a list of several free days earlier this year. As a reminder to that, next week on August 4 you can go to the National Parks for free in celebration of the Anniversary of the Signing of the Great American Outdoors Act. Plus, The Denver Art Museum allows kids 18 and younger free every day (thanks to a grant); and several other locations have deals when you pick up the packs at the libraries or use SNAP benefits.
