The cooling sheets you need right now and how to watch your favorite Olympic moments

Gretchen's Denver Product Picks

Running through the sprinkler or jumping into a lake, you will stay cool with the Grabs we have for you this month! I’ll be excited to harvest my first tomato of the season, pick a few raspberries, spend time at cookouts with friends, catch a baseball game, do some stand-up paddleboarding. July is great.

The Olympic and Paralympic Games Tokyo 2020. Despite the Olympics being a full year behind…we can’t wait to watch them starting July 23! We usually pick a food from the home country to eat for dinner the night that we watch the opening ceremony. This year we may choose sushi. But seeing the best of the best representing Team USA – Simone Biles (and the other gymnasts), swimmers, track stars and the many that come from Colorado. We may even head down to the Olympic Center in Colorado Springs next week in preparation. Keep up with 24/7 Olympic coverage with Xfinity’s On Demand or instantly search your favorite events with just the sound of your voice.  Go Team USA!

Cooling Sheets.  I recently discovered the love of cooling sheets. I don’t love to fall asleep with cold toes – but I do like to stay cooler when I sleep (maybe that is why I like camping in the mountains). There are several options on Amazon – but the ones I got were by the brand Bedsure. They are made of Bamboo which feels so soft and keeps me cool all night long.

Omaha Steaks Hot Dogs Hot dogs are the quick and easy kids meal of the summer. I had never really thought much about them. I would eat one at a cookout or a baseball game and that would be that. I never craved a hot dog – that is until I got ahold of the Omaha Steaks Hot Dogs. They are giant, they are juicy and delicious! So good in fact, that I eat them without any condiments.

Movies. Finally, we are getting to look forward to a summer blockbuster in a cool, air-conditioned theater. Two of the upcoming movies that families are looking for this summer are Black Widow and Jungle Cruise.

·         Black Widow – Following the events of 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) finds herself alone and forced to confront a dangerous conspiracy with ties to her past. Pursued by a force that will stop at nothing to bring her down, Romanoff must deal with her history as a spy and the broken relationships left in her wake long before she became an Avenger.

·         Disney’s Jungle Cruise – Dr. Lily Houghton (Emily Blunt) enlists the aid of wisecracking skipper Frank Wolff (Dwayne Johnson) to take her down the Amazon in his ramshackle boat. Together, they search for an ancient tree that holds the power to heal — a discovery that will change the future of medicine.

Ice Cream. Did you know that National Ice Cream Day is July 18? Nothing is more American or more summer than ice cream – and it is also my favorite treat (any time of year). A couple of years ago, my daughter and I went on an ice cream tour trying Denver’s different shops here were some of our favorites: Little Man, Inventing Room, Sweet Cow, Sweet Action and Nuggs. Some have basic flavors and others have some really unique offerings. Or you can order ice cream to your house with ecreamery.com or milkbarstore.com. Either way, I intend to ice-cream up this July!
