Father's Day Deals in Denver

Denver Deals: National Donut Day, Grand Hyatt Vail’s Father’s Day BBQ & More!

I know that the rest of The United States thinks of Colorado as a winter destination but I honestly love the summers in our state better than the winters. I love getting outdoors. I like a good hike, paddleboard on a nearby lake, or a day or two camping. My recent find is the Exxcel Outdoors at the Outlets of Castle Rock. They have some of the best gear in brands you likely know – at outlet prices! I found cool water vests for the kids with licensed characters on them (Spiderman and Frozen characters) as well as camp chairs.

National Donut Day. I am a fan of the basic raised glazed donut – but my daughter loves the crazier the better kind (Hello VooDoo). This Friday, June 4 is National Donut Day. There will be some great deals you can get just to celebrate the day. Stop by Dunkin’ for a free classic donut with the purchase of a drink. Swing by Krispy Kreme to get a free donut of your choice (and another free one for your vaccination). Lamar’s will also offer a free glazed donut – and give you a chance to win free donuts for a year.

Summer Reading. When we were little my sister and I got our picture in the Steamboat Pilot for winning the summer reading program. But my love of a good book in the summer didn’t end there. Douglas County Libraries and Arapahoe County Libraries and most of Colorado’s libraries have some awesome summer reading programs – where you can win cool stuff, including a new book!

Grand Hyatt Vail. This Father’s Day celebrate Dad at Grand Hyatt Vail’s Father’s Day BBQ. Located adjacent to Gore Creek’s Gold Medal Fly Fishing Waters, Dads will have the opportunity to enjoy a whiskey tasting while casting on Gore Creek with fly fishing tips and tricks from valley-favorite outfitter, Vail Valley Anglers. Culinary offerings from Executive Chef Pierson Shields will feature a modern twist on the classic American BBQ. Snack Creekside on grilled oysters with chorizo brown butter, pulled jerk chicken, mango salsa, crispy onion River Bear Burger, River Bear Texas Hot Links and specialty chipotle mango ribs. Grand Hyatt Vail’s Father’s Day BBQ will be open to all June 20th from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Accommodations can be booked through grandhyattvail.com or by calling 970-479-7014. To secure Father’s Day BBQ reservations, visit www.opentable.com/r/gessner-vail.

Free Fishing Weekend. Now is a great time to try fishing in Colorado! The fish are starting to bite at waters all around the state. To give everyone an opportunity to get out and get some hits, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is inviting resident and nonresident anglers of all ages to participate in its annual Free Fishing Weekend on June 5 to 6. The free fishing weekend is a great way to get outside with family and friends and take advantage of Colorado’s extensive opportunities to fish for a myriad of cold and warm water fish species.

Harkins Theatres. For just $5, see some of the best Blockbusters of the past. They have some great movies left – as these specials go through June 25. For the line-up and to get tickets and showtimes visit Harkins.com.

Mile High Flea Market. Admission is free on the last Friday of each month this summer June 25, July 30 and August 27. Enjoy a farmer’s market, stalls, shops, food, and drinks as well as music. This might be a fun way for you and the family to enjoy a fun kickoff of a weekend!
