I know that the rest of The United States thinks of Colorado as a winter destination but I honestly love the summers in our state better than the winters. I love getting outdoors. I like a good hike, paddleboard on a nearby lake, or a day or two camping. My recent find is the Exxcel Outdoors at the Outlets of Castle Rock. They have some of the best gear in brands you likely know – at outlet prices! I found cool water vests for the kids with licensed characters on them (Spiderman and Frozen characters) as well as camp chairs.
National Donut Day. I am a fan of the basic raised glazed donut – but my daughter loves the crazier the better kind (Hello VooDoo). This Friday, June 4 is National Donut Day. There will be some great deals you can get just to celebrate the day. Stop by Dunkin’ for a free classic donut with the purchase of a drink. Swing by Krispy Kreme to get a free donut of your choice (and another free one for your vaccination). Lamar’s will also offer a free glazed donut – and give you a chance to win free donuts for a year.
Summer Reading. When we were little my sister and I got our picture in the Steamboat Pilot for winning the summer reading program. But my love of a good book in the summer didn’t end there. Douglas County Libraries and Arapahoe County Libraries and most of Colorado’s libraries have some awesome summer reading programs – where you can win cool stuff, including a new book!
