May is upon us. Yay, maybe we will finally get some sunshine that stays around and we know for certain it will usher in summer with Memorial Day being the start of summer. Plus we get great celebrations like Mother’s Day and Cinco de Mayo. Even if my horse lost in the Derby, I really am a winner with some of the great finds for this month! For Mom, consider pampering her with a day at the spa or chemical peels to rejuvenate her skin.
Birkenstock. For the past couple of summers, my daughter sported the Birkenstocks trend (although the first year, she had the Target version). This summer, Birkenstock introduced a waterproof version that looks more like a rubber Birkenstock (they style is called Arizona). They come in all kinds of colors and are more versatile. This is one trend that I think both teen and mom are on board – especially as we think about going out to Chatfield Reservoir to paddleboard or when we go on our planned vacation to a beach this summer. Plus they are about half the price of the traditional Birks!
JetPen Pen Sampler Set. My sister and I used to be able to spend an inordinate amount of time in the pens section of any store – it was almost full-on overload when we discovered the office supply stores. (We grew up in Steamboat. There wasn’t much there). Or maybe you are looking for a fantastic teacher gift for the end of the year. I don’t know many teachers who are not somewhat obsessed with school supplies. So I was excited to give my sister one of the sampler sets found at JetPens.com. Sets range around the $15-$25 ish mark for a set of five to ten pens. They come in different colors and styles and they are so.much.fun!
Ted Lasso. This is not a NEW show. Just new to me. The show starting Jason Sudeikis is about Ted an uber-positive college American football coach that gets a job with a struggling London team as their coach in England. And as you likely know, American Football is way different from football in other parts of the world – which we call soccer. Personal, heartfelt, and a feel-good that you can watch with older kids in the family (some content and language makes it not for littles). Season two is coming in July so now is the time to get caught up on the first season.
Kelly Corrigan Wonders Podcast. Several years ago, a friend of mine said to me, “you think a lot and it all comes out of your mouth in a question.” This podcast – does the same thing. It asks big and little questions that I’m left pondering long after I’ve listened to it. While the podcast gets me thinking – I find myself asking my kids their thoughts on the same ideas and it always brings about great conversation.
Island Way Sorbet. I both love and hate when I take my kids to the store with me. I find out what they want and I also end up buying a few things that I would not have bought on my own. This last trip to Costco, my daughter asked me to buy Island Way Sorbet. They are these cute little sorbet/ice cream treats (individually packaged) that are served in the related natural fruit shells. Not only are they cute serving them but they are very tasty and fairly healthy. Win-win-win.
What are your new finds? What shows, music, things are you loving right now?
