Free Day at Museo de las Americas

Located in the heart of the Art District on Santa Fe, Museo de las Americas is the premier Latin American art museum in the Rocky Mountain region. Museo de las Americas is dedicated to educate our community through collecting, preserving, interpreting and exhibiting the diverse arts and cultures of the Americas from ancient to contemporary, through innovative exhibitions and programs.

 

Corn Maze at Botanic Gardens at Chatfeld 
Oct 4 – 6 
Wind your way through seven acres of corn. The maze can be viewed from two 15-foot tall illuminated bridges. Visitors under the age of 10 can explore the corn mini-maze. Get lost in our 7-acre Corn Maze at Chatfield Farms (there is no Corn Maze at York Street). Also enjoy our After Dark Corn Maze and Dead Zone Scream Park. Masks and costumes are not permitted on the premises.

Enchanted Hollows at Denver Zoo 
Oct 4 – 5 
Enchanted Hollows, perfect for ages 8 and up, featuring our all-new Harmony Hill Bigfoot Festival and the just-slightly-spooky Woodland Hollow Art Walk. The frightening fun continues with activities for the whole family, including axe throwing, cornhole, elaborate pumpkin carvings, animal specialist talks and even a Scary-oke sing-along. Enchanted Hollows is open every weekend in October.

After Dark Corn Maze at Denver Botanic Gardens Chatfield Farms 
Oct 4 – 5 
The lights are out in Corn Maze and brave visitors can find their way through with only the light of a glow stick. Note: this maze is not haunted. Masks and costumes are not permitted on the premises.

University of Denver vs. South Dakota State – Women’s Volleyball at University of Denver

Join the University of Denver’s pioneers against South Dakota State for a night of volleyball!

Horseshoe Market, Denver’s Best Flea Market will host its 10th Fall Market on Saturday and Sunday, October 5th and 6th. This will be the biggest market ever with over 230 vendors–makers, artists, vintage and antiques, food trucks, live music and FREE creative workshops geared towards home inspiration and home decor. Kids DIY and art activities hosted by Craftsman and Apprentice.

General admission to the Denver Art Museum is FREE to all youth age 18 and under every day, granting more kids access to art than ever before.

Open House at Black American West Museum

The Black American West Museum and Historic Denver are competing in a national competition to earn $150,000 for the home of Dr. Justina Ford, which serves as the location of the Black American West Museum. To celebrate this exciting opportunity and give our community a chance to experience the home for themselves, we are hosting a free open house, full of historical enactors, food trucks, and performers.

The 5th Annual Cherry Creek North Art Feast is a FREE event that is on October 5th form 2PM-5PM. Visitors can join us for a collision of food and art during this free walking tour of Cherry Creek North, featuring the area’s most acclaimed galleries and select bites from renowned restaurants. Art Feast is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for culinary and artistic interaction, sampling and learning, in a re-imagined way. Each participating gallery will showcase creativity at work in their own unique fashion. With live demonstrations, musical performances, store discounts and more, this event is sure to inspire the artist in all of us.

Grim Rising: An interactive evening of Circus, Food, and Fright! at Apex School of Movement Denver

Join Circus Foundry and Sugar Mountain Catering as we welcome the Halloween Season! We have created a new original circus production that is completely catered with delicious food bites and bubbling brews. Each bite is paired perfectly with the performance!
We will be collaborating with Deep Space Drive-In and Matador Events who will be using unique projections and a hand crafted lighting design to completely transform the space into an interactive underworld full of monsters.

Bugtober: Masquerade at the Butterfly Pavilion
Colorado’s Butterfly Pavilion will showcase these master illusionists of the invertebrate world all October for Bugtober: Masquerade, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily, October 1-31, 2019 at 6252 West 104th Avenue in Westminster, Colo. During Bugtober: Masquerade, guests will learn how various animals use lavish patterns and colors to stand out from the crowd and startle would-be predators. Others don complex disguises to remain unseen, concealing their true location, identity or movements to escape their enemies or sneak up on their prey.

Maize in the City
Through October 31
Maize in the City is Colorado’s favorite rural fall event featuring convenient, fun attractions for the whole family to enjoy. Get lost in your own backyard as you navigate your way through the 20-acre corn maze or mini maze. Find your perfect pumpkin in our easy-pick field. Locally grown by the Maize in the City farmer, choose from 15 variety of pumpkins and gourds. Launch ears of corn 50+ feet across the field with our corn launchers; have your little ones ride through the field on the barrel train; take a turn on our obstacle bouncer.

One of the foremost photographers to photograph the great American West, William Henry Jackson’s images had an immense influence on the public’s perception of the American West. A portion of those images were captured here in Colorado as Jackson traveled throughout the west by rail. This exhibit not only showcases the Museum’s collection of Jackson photographs but provides visitors with the opportunity to visit the rail car he traveled and lived in – the Denver & Rio Grande Western business car – the Rico.

Marine Biologist for a Day at the Downtown Aquarium

See if you have what it takes to become a Marine Biologist! Spend a day behind the scenes where all the scientific action happens. Experience close encounters with exotic species from the deep sea to shallow reef and everywhere in between. You’ll even get to dissect a squid! First Light Family Space at the Denver Art Museum
June 1-Dec. 31, 2019
Step into the shining world of the new First Light Family Space and try hands-on activities inspired by the exhibition, The Light Show. Trace a shadow, make a mirror, play with patterns and create a colorful city. The museum of free for kids under 18 for kids. Have fun learning about artwork with gallery games similar to I spy, bingo, and memory matching with Gallery Games. Create Playdate’s artmaking with little ones is on the second Wednesday of the month from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. DenverArtMuseum.org.
