Free day at Plains Conservation Center
Nov 8, 9:00 am – 2:00 pm
Free Days occur throughout the year at both York Street and Chatfield Farms, thanks to funding from the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD). No tickets are needed for admission to Free Days. Free Days are for regular Gardens hours only and do not include ticketed events.

The Nocturnals Storytime at Hearthfire Books
Nov 8, 4:00 – 5:00 pm
Fabled Films Press proudly partners with Hearthfire Books for an extra special storytime event featuring a book in the critically-acclaimed book series The Nocturnals entitled The Slithery Shakedown.  We will be sharing the easy reader books in the series, which are perfect for ages 4-7, but all are welcome!
Free day, Molly Brown House Museum

Free admission for the residents of: Adams, Arapahoe, Boulder, Broomfield, Denver, Douglas, and Jefferson Counties – must show ID. January 27, May 1,  August 1 (Colorado Day–Free for everyone!), September 6, and November 9 (Veteran’s Day). On free day, please consider making a donation according to your ability. The Museum is much busier on free days, so also consider visiting on a regular admission day instead. If you have a large group or a group with special needs, we can book a tour any other day by offering free or reduced admission. No private or school group tours will be scheduled on free days.

Travel back to 1859… for free! Enjoy historic demonstrations, a tour of the Four Mile House Museum—a Denver landmark!—and meeting our many farm animals. Our Hay Bales & Tall Tales story and activity time will also be offered from 12-1 pm.

A Christmas Carol, The Musical

A Christmas Carol, the Musical is a spectacular adaptation of Charles Dickens’ most well-known story by Broadway heavy hitters, Alan Menken (Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, Disney’s The Little Mermaid, Little Shop of Horrors) and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Seussical, Once on This Island). Ebenezer Scrooge believes that personal wealth is far more valuable than the happiness and comfort of others. With an infuriated “Bah! Humbug!” Scrooge is forced to face his selfish ways on Christmas Eve when three ghosts visit to lead him through his Past, Present and Future.

Denver Veterans Parade & Festival at Civic Center Park

The Denver Veterans Day Parade is comprised of local Veterans organizations and supporters. Thousands of spectators line Civic Center Park and nearby streets to show respect and honor for our local Veterans. Please join the community in the appreciation of our Veterans and support this important cause.

Free day at Longmont Museum

The Longmont Museum, housed in a distinctive contemporary building, features changing exhibits in history, art, and science, as well as the award-winning Front Range Rising, a long-term exhibit on the history and culture of this region. The Museum recently opened an expansion, featuring the 250-seat Stewart Auditorium and Cone-Shortall stage, the Swan Atrium, and the Kaiser Permanente Education Center.

Girl Scout Craft Fair at Bethany Lutheran Church

Don’t miss the Girl Scout Craft Fair on November 10, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. This is a free event and all proceeds go back to the individual troops. Girl Scouts will make homemade crafts and baked goods.

Museum Takeover: Weather and Climate at Fort Collins Museum of Discovery

Children’s Day Film Festival

Historic Elitch Theatre in conjunction with Blissfest333, The Bug Theatre, and the New York International Children’s Film Festival is proud to present the final Children’s Day event of 2018 on November 10th & 11th, marking the First Annual Historic Elitch Theatre Children’s Day International Film Festival. Held at the end of Denver Arts Week, the festival will be a weekend event featuring unique, intelligent films from across the world for young audiences and their families from 11am-5pm. Each day will bring three blocks of films with brief intermissions. All screenings will take place inside The Bug Theatre.

Hands on History Family Fun Days at the History Colorado Center

15th Annual Great Candy Run at Washington Park

Free Entrance for Veteran’s Day at National Parks

Come experience the national parks! On four days in 2018, all National Park Service sites that charge an entrance fee will offer free admission to everyone.

Kim Robards Dance – Soaring to New Heights

Kim Robards Dance will present its 31st Season opening concert “Soaring To New Heights” on a Sunday matinee November 11 at 3:00 pm at the beautiful Lakewood Cultural Center as part of Arts Week.

Denver Union Station Holiday Fun
Denver Union Station will officially launch the holiday season on Friday, Nov. 23rd with Denver’s grandest Grand Illumination celebration yet. Held from 4 p.m. – 8 p.m., this festive annual Grand Illumination event will feature a performance of classic holiday hits by the Denver Dolls, a visit from Santa & Mrs. Claus, Christmas carolers and the lighting of the landmark train station’s NEW outdoor Christmas tree, a 40 foot tall tree that will feature more than 7,000 holiday lights. Other festive events this holiday season include the Union Station Holiday Market by Denver Flea (Nov. 25, Dec. 2, 9 and 16), free visits with Santa & Mrs. Claus (Nov. 25th, Dec. 2nd, Dec. 9th, Dec. 16th and Dec. 23rd) and Sundaes with Santa on Sunday afternoons (2-4 p.m.) features a make-your-own-Sundae Bar featuring including a variety of sauces & toppings for $5 per

Winter Wonderlights
November 16-January 1
This walkable lighting attraction situated in the award-winning Chapungu Sculpture Park at Centerra will mesmerize guests as they stroll through the sculpture park, which has been transformed for this joyful time of year. Each night, visitors will revel in more than 60,000 holiday string lights, twinkling bulbs, LED mappable snowflakes, illuminated African stone sculptures, a 20’ LED mappable Christmas tree and a six-song music and light show each evening starting at 5 p.m. In addition to nightly lighting attractions, special weekend programming will run Friday and Saturday evenings from Nov. 16 – Dec. 15 featuring Colorado’s largest inflatable igloo, weekend food and retail vendors, prize giveaways and exceptional performances from dance and musical acts from across northern Colorado.

Free Skating at Skyline Park
November 20-February 3
Now in its 9th season, the Downtown Denver Rink offers free ice skating seven days a week. Plus, check out the amazing programming–from Snoga to Broomball. Entry is free but skate rentals are $6 for kids 12 & under and $8 for adults 13 & older.

Play Ball!at the History Colorado Center

TreeHouses: Look Who’s Living in the Trees! Hands-on exhibit

Explore the forest canopy – indoors! In the Longmont Museum’s newest hands-on exhibition, visitors roam from tree to tree as they discover the many habitats that trees provide for animals large and small, and people too. Climb through large treehouses, become an animal tracker, get face-to-face with wildlife of all sizes, move your feet on the forest-sound dance floor, and more. This exhibition makes learning fun, as visitors explore responsible forestation, wildlife ecology, and local epidemics such as the ash borer beetle.

Aloha: Postcards from Polynesia

Have you ever wondered why the sun takes so long to cross the sky? Or how we discovered the secret of fire? Tour the islands of Polynesia with our favorite demi-god, Maui, while he regales you with his stories of creation. Who knows, you might even pull an island or two from the ocean! The BiTSY Stage provides high quality, free theatrical productions for the whole family.

Mindbender Mansion
July 20 – January 6, 2019
Love brainteasers? Enter “Mindbender Mansion,” a quirky place full of puzzles, brainteasers and interactive challenges that put minds of all ages to the test. This unique, high-energy experience opened at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science on July 20.

Denver Art Museum
There are several family-friendly exhibits at the DAM including Stampede: Animals in Art on view at the museum through May 19, 2019.  A Walk in the Woods is still on view, which coincides with Stampede, and includes animal-themed artmaking activities and after their summer break, Foxy & Shmoxy: Art Detectives, are back.  Children have been really loving the gallery games and book in the exhibition Ganesha: The Playful Protector. Their Learning & Engagment department created a children’s book specially to be used while visiting this exhibition with children, and don’t miss Past the Tangled Present.
