Carnation Festival

Wheat Ridge is holding its 49th annual Carnation Festival.  This year’s festival will include an art show, live music, carnival rides, the Zoppe Italian Family Circus, and many more family- friendly attractions and activities. The festival also offers plenty of fun for adults, including one of the state’s largest beer and wine gardens.

Jeffco Fair & Festival

The Jeffco Fair & Festival is a re-imagined event that was built off previous fairs and festivals held throughout Jefferson County history. The first annual Jeffco Fair & Festival was held August 11 – 14, 2016 at the Jeffco Fairgrounds where event attendees were treated to a dash of fun, interactive, engaging and traditional experiences with a focus on locality to ensure there was something for everyone.

High School Musical Jr.

Disney Channel’s smash hit movie musical comes to life on stage in Disney’s High School Musical JR. Troy, Gabriella and the students of East High must deal with issues of love, friends and family while balancing their classes and extra-curricular activities. It’s the first day after winter break at East High. The Jocks, Brainiacs, Thespians and Skater Dudes all find their cliques. Basketball team captain and resident jock, Troy, discovers that the brainy Gabriella, a girl he met singing karaoke on his ski trip, has just enrolled at East High. The couple causes an upheaval when they decide to audition for the high school musical. Although many students resent the threat posed to the “status quo,” Troy and Gabriella’s alliance might just open the door for others to shine as well. The show’s infectious, danceable songs are sure to be a hit!

Fantastic Family Theatre: The Little Mermaid

These short shows are the perfect way to introduce young audience members to theatre! Bring the whole family to enjoy a silly, original adaptation of a classic story written by the cast and youth directing team.Tickets are available at the door beginning at 6pm. Shows run approximately 20 minutes. Cash & Check preferred, there may be a surcharge for tickets purchased by credit card. Cast members are students in our summer Academy (BSTA) class program, directed by our teen leadership team (BYLP). It’s theatre by kids, for kids!

Dinosaur Discovery Day: Reptile and Bird Day at Friends of Dinosaur Ridge
Aug 11, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
Join the Friends of Dinosaur Ridge and several special guests to explore the relationship between dinosaurs and their cousins the reptiles, and their descendants the birds! At the Visitor Center: Wild Wings will be here with live raptors (hawks, falcons, and owls), and the Denver Zoo will be here displaying many awesome reptiles such as snakes, lizards, turtles! Other special guests include the Morrison Natural History Museum, and more! On the Ridge: Scientists will be stationed along the trail to interpret the fossil and geological sites to visitors that hike up. Hiking is free. Dead Sea Scrolls is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see authentic Dead Sea Scrolls, ancient manuscripts that include the oldest known biblical documents dating back over 2,000 years. Past the Tangled Present at the Denver Art Museum

History Colorado created a brand-new space, the Tim Schultz Gallery, to house this 3,700-square-foot exhibit of 100 objects, each of which had a role in shaping the history and culture of Colorado.

Pixelated: Sculpture by Mike Whiting
April 28–Sept. 23, 2018
Mike Whiting’s geometric sculptures at the Denver Botanic Gardens also represent the intersection of two distinct visual styles: 8-bit pixel graphics—which have enjoyed a recent resurgence in games like Minecraft—and minimalist sculpture. Technological limitations in early video games like Pac-Man and Space Invaders reduced the graphics to simplified shapes, while the minimalist art movement created artworks that purposely lacked detail. Pixelated investigates the opposite intents of these two artistic approaches that result in a strikingly similar visual outcome.

Peak-A-Boo Play
Peak-A-Boo Play launched in spring 2018 in The Hangar at Stanley Marketplace. The space is a clean, safe, pop-up experience offering drop-in, open play for kiddos three years of age and under. Parents/caretakers must be present and will have opportunities to socialize, grab coffee and take a breather while kids explore over 500-square-feet of mats, plush tumbling gear, sensory toys, bubbles, music and more. Summer admission is $10 per child with sibling discounts available. Hours of operation are Monday and Thursday mornings, 9 to noon; however, schedule is subject to change/expand and will be regularly posted to website and social channels.
