Contest: Santa’s Village at Chatfield Farms is Denver’s Newest Holiday Hotspot
posted by: gretchen
Did you know that Denver is the birthplace of outdoor holiday lights? Maybe that’s why we are surrounded by spectacular displays every holiday season. There are many magical options to explore. Cold nights are warmed by the beauty and creativity of these wonderlands. One of the newest night light walks is at the Denver Botanic Garden’s Chatfield Farms.
You might be familiar with the Trail of Lights they staged for so many years. 2017 brings a new experience called Santa’s Village at Chatfield Farms. Gorgeously-lit trees are still in abundance! However, they’ve expanded the Santa Claus encounter with a lot of creative, thoughtful touches. It’s a more immersive, hands-on evening of holiday fun.
Of course you can meet the jolly man himself and take photos. He sits in a beautifully decorated sleigh with plenty of room for your wide-eyed crew. Mrs. Claus is near, ready to read beloved Christmas stories and do crafts with your family. The kids decorated plain white ceramic plates with permanent markers. The plates can be baked at home to set the marker. This is a wonderful keepsake of a special night.
Comet and Cupid are on the premises, enjoying a snack and letting visitors pet their furry heads. Nearby, Santa’s Workshop is stocked with interesting craft vendors selling food and decor. Take a stroll down Elf Boulevard and see where the elves work and go to school. The elves even have Santa’s Cinema, a warm yurt where short holiday films play.
One of the highlights is the hayride through the farm. You can take a one-way trip or a round trip through illuminated trees. The old farmhouse is open so you can get a glimpse of what Christmas looked like long ago.
Wrap up the night with a cup of cocoa next to the fire pit! It’s a welcome spot of calm in this busy season.
