7 farmer’s markets you need to check out before summer ends

Nothing makes me more sad about summer winding down than saying a final farewell to all my glorious fresh produce at the farmer’s markets. I have my favorite venues which include Boulder, Golden, Littleton and Highlands Ranch but after checking our Visit Denver’s recommendations, I’ve added a few more to my list. Celebrate the end of summer by checking these out! 

THE FARMERS’ MARKET AT HIGHLANDS SQUARE

32nd Ave. and Lowell Blvd. 
Beginning June 5 and every Sunday through the middle of October, Highlands Square will bring you The Farmers’ Market at Highlands Square. Last year was a first for this event, and the community is thrilled to bring it back for a second season. In addition to the farm-fresh food, expect live music and beverages, including local craft beer, mimosas and Bloody Marys.

STAPLETON FRESH MARKET

E. 29th Ave. and Roslyn St.
The Stapleton Fresh Market takes place from June – October on the Founder’s Green. Don’t miss freshly popped kettle corn and other tasty snacks while you browse for healthy produce. This year’s kickoff is on Father’s Day, making it the perfect way to spend the morning with Dad.

UNION STATION FARMERS’ MARKET

Denver Union Station Plaza 
Denver’s newest farmers’ market, slated to open this summer, brings local to the heart of the city. The Union Station Farmers’ Market will boast an impressive list of local producers and vendors, from farm-fresh fruits and veggies, to meat and dairy, to prepared goods like coffee, sauces and baked goods. 

WHEN: Saturdays, June 4–Oct. 22, 2016, 9 a.m.–2 p.m.

FRESH MARKET POP-UP AT THE LANDMARK

7600 Landmark Way, Greenwood Village
Head south for the new Fresh Market Pop-Up at The Landmark, produced by Colorado Fresh Markets, features a high-quality mix of Colorado growers and unique local gourmet food vendors representing the best of the Rocky Mountain region.

WHEN: Wednesdays, July 6–Aug. 31, 2016, 4 p.m.–8 p.m.

OLD SOUTH PEARL STREET FARMERS’ MARKET

On the 1500 block of Old South Pearl St., between Florida Ave. and Iowa Ave.
Super-fresh produce, ready-to-eat treats, artisan cheeses and just-out-of-oven baked goods — this is what a farmers’ market is all about! The quaint South Pearl neighborhood hosts the splendid Old South Pearl Street Farmers’ Market every Sunday in the summertime. The irresistible smell of freshly roasted chilies will lead you over to Pope Farms’ booth. If you’re looking for tips on what to do with your haul, show up around noon for the weekly “Nibble At Noon” chef demonstration featuring recipes, cooking tips and more.

LE JARDIN SECRET

Larimer Square, Bistro Vendome Courtyard
Le Jardin Secret — the “secret garden” — is not your average summer market. At this French-inspired chefs’ market in Larimer Square, foodies can shop for dairy, meat, bread, produce and other goods — all with a mimosa in hand. You’ll find perfect tomatoes, French cheeses, grassfed tenderloins and artisanal bread. Carefully selected vendors like Grateful Bread Company, Western Daughters Butcher Shoppe, the Truffle Cheese Shop, Sugarmill and Blooming Fool will sell a variety of ingredients specifically curated for the home chef. 

HARRY’S URBAN FARMERS’ MARKET

2409 Arapahoe St.
Harry’s is a downtown farmers’ market with local produce, live music and vendors. The weekly gathering features farmers selling their own produce and foods, backyard gardeners who are invited to sell their extras at the market, and artisans who use Colorado-sourced goods to make their crafts.
