There is something spectacular about a great summer day. The weather is warm and the day stretches in front of you with possibility. I recently had a most perfect summer day. It started with a bike ride, then we went to Chatfield Reservoir to play in the water (bike rides can get hot), and the we capped the night off with a concert at Elitch Gardens. To me, that was perfect! Can you describe your perfect summer day?
Parker Days Festival. This weekend – June 9-12, enjoy Parker Days including parade, food, carnival rides, three concert stages (free music) including kick-off concert featuring .38 special at the perfect family weekend in Parker.
Westminster Summer Block Party. On Thursday, June 9, celebrate summer in Westminster at the 2016 Summer Block Party from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Irving Street Park. Free Summer Meals for Kids from Hunger-Free Colorado. A collaborative effort of government agencies, nonprofit and community-based organizations, and school districts focuses on addressing child hunger through a statewide summer food program. This summer, more than 500 community sites across Colorado will provide meals to children up to 18 years old at no cost. Community sites such as churches, schools and recreation centers offer free breakfasts, lunches, suppers and/or snacks that meet federal nutrition guidelines, as well as fun, engaging activities for children so they continue to exercise their minds and their bodies. There are no income or registration requirements for participation. Colorado families can find nearby summer meal sites by calling Hunger Free Colorado’s statewide food resource hotline toll-free at (855) 855-4626 or by using an interactive map at KidsFoodFinder.org.
Film Society Dahl House. The Denver Film Society is proud to launch family programming with a retrospective of films written by or based on novels by beloved author Roald Dahl. All guests are $5, children under 6 are free and admission includes an all-you-can-eat cereal bar! Doors open and cereal will be available at 10am and the films will start at 10:30am.
FREE BOWLING. Punch Bowl Social (65 Broadway) is bringing back the popular free summer bowling for kids. Starting June 1st, kids ages 15 and under can bowl for one hour at no cost including shoes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 am to 2 pm, just be sure an adult is also in attendance.
