I am an outdoors girl. I always have been. I’m glad I live in a super state like Colorado where we have so many outdoor spaces and places and we are lucky enough to have National Parks! I feel like I personally own a piece of the National Parks (I used to live in Steamboat which is in the middle or Routt National Forest and my mom used to work for the Forest Service). So I was SUPER excited when I got to invite my mom to join me at the IMAX “National Parks Adventure” (opening this Friday at Denver Museum of Nature and Science). The documentary film is in celebration of the centennial anniversary of the National Parks this August. The epic on-screen adventure will take us to ALL the national parks.

Me Before You Movie. So I read (cried) reading this book–it was awesome. One of those “can’t put it down” kinds. And now you can experience it too…#LiveBoldly and grab some tissues.  Come see ME BEFORE YOU, at a special advance screening. Visit to download your admit-two pass. Passes do not guarantee admission as theater is overbooked. ARRIVE EARLY to line up for a chance to get in.
FREE BOWLING. Punch Bowl Social (65 Broadway) is bringing back the popular free summer bowling for kids. Starting June 1st, kids ages 15 and under can bowl for one hour at no cost including shoes on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11 am to 2 pm, just be sure an adult is also in attendance.
Memorial Day Sales. While you have the holiday off from work – it doesn’t mean you get it off from great bargain hunting (which at times can feel a bit like a job too).  Top things to buy at Memorial Day Sales are: Mattresses, appliances, home goods, tools, auto parts & accessories, spring clothes, and make travel plans. DON’T buy: Summer clothes, TVs and electronics (better deals on Black Friday), Grills & Outdoor furniture (better deals in August), or pool gear.
Here are some sales that we know about:
  • Clothing sales can range from 20% to 90% discount at stores like Macy’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Gap, Eddie Bauer, Buckle, Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein (my fave) and at places like the Outlets of Castle Rock. (Most mall-type clothing stores you can expect to get 40% off)
  • Sears. Now is a great time to replace your bed and get up to 30% off appliances.
  • HomeDepot. Up to 25-35% off grills, patio furniture and more.
  • Lowe’s. Up to 50% off (although I’m told stay away from grills because bigger deals come later in the summer)
  • Cabela’s. Get up to 60% off select items.
