Memorial Day weekend: 12 fun events in Denver

There are plenty of events in Denver this Memorial Day weekend including Water World’s season opener, Colorado Remembers Concert, BolderBoulder, Denver Day of Rock and more. See our event calendar for additional information.

Denver Day of Rock, 16th Street Mall, Denver 
May 28, 2:30 pm – 9:30 pm
Denver Day of Rock is a free one-of-a-kind music event presented by Amp the Cause to raise awareness of the children in our community. This free event will feature five stages of live music throughout downtown Denver.

Colorado Remembers Concert for Memorial Day at Springhill Community Park 
May 28, 11:00 am – 4:00 pm
Everyone is welcome to attend this full day of family-friendly events and activities, including a military ceremony honoring our veterans, a children’s instrument “Petting Zoo”, and more.
There will be a free concert at 2:00 pm, featuring The Denver Brass, along with Legacy Quartet, and the Celtic Colorado Pipes and Drums.

Boulder Creek Festival,  Boulder Creek Corridor 
May 28 – May 30 
For over a quarter century, the Boulder Creek Festival® has been the unofficial kickoff to summer in Boulder. Widely considered Boulder County’s favorite event, the Festival includes three days of festivities featuring a large variety of events, activities, food and entertainment unique to the Boulder community. 

BolderBoulder 10K Race 
May 30, 7:00 am – 10:00 am
You and 120,000 of your closest friends make this a truly unforgettable event that is the fourth largest running race in the nation. Ages 6 and up; must preregister.

Culture on the Green at Civic Green Park 
May 27,  6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Featured: International Youth Ballet performance of Sleeping Beauty. Don’t miss free series featuring some of Colorado’s best performers and fellow SCFD funded non-profits.

Water World Opening Weekend 
May 28
Community-owned Hyland Hills Water World opens for the 37th season of summer fun this weekend. Named as one of the Best Water Parks in America by the Travel Channel, Water World offers 50 attractions on a beautiful 70-acre site. Guests can soak up some rays, be lazy on the river or speed down one of the many world-class water slides.

Memorial Day weekend is the grand opening for the season.

The Big Wonderful is a family-friendly, outdoor marketplace that features a wide variety of artisan vendors, farm-fresh food trucks, live music, craft brews + cocktails, outdoor games, a mini-sized dog park and more. 

Family Fun Day at the Fiske Planetarium at the Liniger Building at CU South Denver 
May 28, 11:00 am – 2:00 pm
Tracks and fossils left by ancient life often reveal secrets about Earth’s history. As we explore new worlds other than our home planet, we also leave evidence of our history in the form of footprints and robot tracks. Join us on a journey to other planets to see how we are leaving our own “steps in stone” through the solar system!

Family Bunk with the Beasts – It’s a Jungle Out There at the Denver Zoo

Families with children ages 6 and up can Bunk with the Beasts in this overnight learning adventure at the Denver Zoo, designed to provide bonding time, shared projects and special zoo experiences to create family memories that will last a lifetime.

Book Launch & Signing: ‘I Choose Me: The Art of Being a Phenomenally Successful Woman at Home and at Work’
May 31, 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm
The book launch party and book signing event for author Cynthia James book ‘I Choose Me: The Art of Being a Phenomenally Successful Woman at Home and at Work’ is Tues., May 31st at Denver’s Union Station from 4 -7 pm outside the Tattered Cover bookstore. The book will be available for purchase and the official release of the book is by Motivational Press on June 1.
