Tide Pods Just Got Safer. P&G believes the key to reducing the number of incidents involving children and laundry pacs is proactive prevention, which is why last week, Tide announced a redesign of its Tide Pods packaging to feature a new Child-Guard™ zipper. New bags with the Child-Guard™ zipper—P&G’s most secure design—will replace Tide’s current bag packaging starting in May. The Child-Guard™ zipper bags will also be available on Gain Flings® laundry packets, which are manufactured by P&G. The Child-Guard™ zipper bag is the next step in P&G’s ongoing efforts to make laundry pac containers safer for households with young children. Already, the company has given laundry pac containers more secure closures and made them opaque (so contents are not visible to children), added a bitter taste to the outer layer of its Tide, Gain and Ariel laundry pacs, and designed its laundry pacs to withstand the average squeezing pressure of a small child.
