Restaurant Review: Juicy Burgers and Dogs with Green Plate Kate

Restaurant Review: Juicy Burgers and Dogs with Green Plate Kate

Weekends are for family and we are always on the hunt for family-friendly restaurants that use quality ingredients and delicious food at a reasonable price. We were on the south end of town and craving burgers so I googled “burgers Denver” and Juicy Burgers and Dogs popped up as close by. A brief glance at their website and I knew we were good to go, so we steered off  the highway at Arapahoe Road, took a quick left on Yosemite and we had arrived!

What was it that caught my eye and made this mama bear happy?

The quality of their ingredients! Juicy Burgers and Dogs only serves Colorado-sourced, all-natural lamb, chicken and beef. Their beef is fresh never frozen 100% pure ground chuck without additives, fillers or preservatives.  Score one for the team.

Their artisan buns are from Udis, another local biz known for their food quality and their fries are cut fresh daily and cooked in 100% canola oil with no trans fat.

Is this ‘perfect’ quality? No ma’am, but my ultimate ‘ideal’ is pretty hard to find around town, especially without blowing your entire wad on lunch.

In my fantasy world all burgers would be from grass-fed cows, the chicken right off the sustainably-farmed pasture and the potatoes organic and fried in only the finest cooking oils (coconut oil or pastured lard). This mama is a realist, and although I strive to be, a real-food perfectionist I am not. And when it comes to feeding hungry, sometimes picky kiddos, I will always choose the best option I can find…and this blows most fast food burger joints out of the food-quality water!

The menu is simple but offers something for everyone; 4 different style hot dogs and a wide variety of burger options including a chicken sandwich, buffalo burger and Greek-style lamb burger among the simpler choices. Combos, sides, milkshakes and sundaes round it out.

The kids menu is very reasonable; my boys got the “mini-burgers” which included two 2 oz patties, a small but ample serving of fries and a drink for $5.99. It was plenty of food for those hungry tummies! I ordered the Juicy Char (regular burger) on a lettuce wrap and the hubs got the Double with a side of fries (hot, crisp and Ah-mazing)

We got “The Works” which included pickle, tomato and grilled onions adding a nice sweet charred flavor to each bite. This was just one of several free options for toppings, in addition to several other choices for a minimal upcharge.

The service was excellent, friendly and fast—but not lickety-split , ensuring me that our meal was made fresh to order.

Bonus: Kids eat free on Sundays with the purchase of an adult meal!

Convenience: 4/5 forks

Located on the south end of town, (Centennial) but easily accessible off I-25 and Arapahoe Rd with plenty of easy parking.

Family Friendly: 5/5 forks

Overall, very reasonably priced for a family meal on-the-go. The kids menu is a great value + kids eat free on Sundays!

Food Quality: 4/5 forks

Not perfect but making an effort to source Colorado-based, higher quality ingredients goes a long way in my book!

  1. I won’t eat true fast-food burgers anymore. I love that so many Colorado restaurants are making an effort to produce higher quality meat. Need to check this out.

  2. Adding this to our list. Thanks for the tip!
