Egg Carton Whales
Materials:
Egg carton
Paint
Scissors
Colored paper
Pipe cleaners
Markers
Googly eyes (optional)
Start out by cutting your recycled egg carton into individual sections. Next, get out your paint, and paint each section of the carton. This will act as the whale’s body – so feel free to be creative with colors here and make each whale unique!
Next up, you’re going to create the whale’s spout. First, cut an “x” at the top of each carton piece. Take short pieces of pipe cleaners and place them into the cut in the carton, like a bouquet. Curl each pipe cleaner outward to create the illusion of water blowing out of the whale’s spout.
Now, for the whale’s tale and fins. For this you can use whatever colored paper you like to cut out tale and fin shapes and then glue them to the egg carton. Lastly, give your whale some personality with a face. Googly eyes add a fun character to your whale, but you can also draw eyes onto the whale if you don’t have an extra bag of googly eyes handy.
