A worldwide movement has found its way to Denver and it’s all about literacy! Little Free Library is a “take a book, return a book” gathering place where neighbors share their favorite literature and stories. In its most basic form, a Little Free Library is a box full of books where anyone may stop by and pick up a book (or two) and bring back another book to share. You can, too!

Where do I find a Little Free Library near me?
Search this Map to find a Little Free Library book exchange near you where you may take or return a book (and maybe strike up a conversation, too!)
What’s so special about having an official Little Free Library?
If this were just about providing free books on a shelf, the whole idea might disappear after a few months. Little Free Library book exchanges have a unique, personal touch and there is an understanding that real people are sharing their favorite books with their community. These aren’t just any old books, this is a carefully curated collection and the Library itself is a piece of neighborhood art!
I want to have a Library in my neighborhood! How do I get started?
The Get Involved and Register pages are a good place to start, and be sure to check out their blog, too.
I want to donate several books to Little Free Library book exchanges. How do I do so?
If want to contribute just a few, we’d love for you to put them in a Little Free Library near you. Just find a Library on the World Map, stop by and drop them off! For larger quantities, look over the How To Donate Books handout on the How-To Information page. Then, Contact Us if necessary.
Whether you start your own Little Free Library or just exchange with those near you, enjoy a fun summer of reading!

My neighbor has a Little Free Library and calls herself a “steward” because she’s building stronger, more connected neighborhoods in amazing ways. Some host block parties to celebrate the grand opening of their Little Free Libraries. Others organize biking or walking tours of Little Free Libraries in their areas.

It’s so cute you can be creative with them. No two Little Free Libraries that look exactly alike? There are robots and boats, owls and apples, castles and log cabins. Beehives. Rocketships. Snails. Check out the photos of ever-eclectic Little Free Libraries on Pinterest, Instagram, and Flickr, and you’ll see what I mean.

Most of our kids need a digital detox. What a great way to do it!

This is a lovely idea. Kids can benefit so much from reading & this is a great way to connect them with the community!
