Arapahoe County Fair: Fireworks, rodeo, carnival and more (win tickets!)

There’s nothing that smells, tastes and feels like summer quite like a county fair!

Mark your calendar to celebrate the 109th Arapahoe County Fair, July 23-26, 2015, at the Arapahoe County Fairgrounds in Aurora. This is the best bargain in town with pre-sale online admission tickets for only $10 per person. Tickets include unlimited carnival rides, plus a rodeo (don’t miss the Mutton Bustin’), two nights of fireworks, concerts on the main stage, pie-eating contest, food vendors, high-flying DockDogs, 4-H shows, truck and tractor sled pulls, high-octane motor sports and more. Bonus: Children under 36 inches tall get in FREE.

Family Fun Tent

Families and kids will love this fun-filled stage, where new acts appear every hour on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday! From puppet shows to magic, and music to rope tricks, swing by for interactive fun in the shade!

See farm animals such as rabbits, pigs and poultry in the east wing and horses, cattle, goats and sheep in the livestock pavilion and be sure to visit barnyard friends at the Petting Farm.  On July 25, fairgoers also can marvel at and bid on quality market animals that 4-H youth work diligently to raise at the Youth Livestock Auction.

Lil’ Arena

Yeehaw! Kids of all ages can compete in the Hoppin’ Horse Race, Hula Hooping Contest and Stick Horse Rodeo. There are several events daily; just stop by to sign up – its FREE!

Heritage Tent

This fun-filled area offers FREE children’s activities and demonstrations throughout the day. Fairgoers delight can in educational and fun hands-on activities, demonstrations and contests. Also, are you as “Fit as a Farmer”?  Test your fitness farmer skills of strength, speed, and dexterity by competing against other adults and win prizes.  Some of these fitness competitions include carrying hay bales, hammering nails, “barrel racing” on stick horses, and so much more. They also have a “Fit as a Farmer” Youth competition for those who are 18 and under. Some of these competition tasks will include carrying mini-hay bales, washing a cloth with a real washboard and hanging it to dry on a clothesline, “barrel racing” on stick horses, and roping a steer.

“Save Big with Parker Pig” and buy discounted tickets online now for only $10 per person through July 23, or pay $15 (cash only) at the Fair gate. Parking is $5 per vehicle. Fair gates open at 4 p.m. July 23 and 11 a.m., July 24-26. The Fairgrounds are located at 25690 E. Quincy Ave., Aurora, two miles east of E-470 at exit 13.
