Denver Deal: Free Denver Walking Tours, Summer Movie Fun and More!

 We have plenty of fabulous deals this week!

Free Denver Walking Tours. On June 1 at 10 a.m., Denver parents, kiddos, and visitors alike will be able to see and experience downtown Denver in a new way. They’ll be able to take advantage of Denver Free Walking Tours’ new two hour daily tours that start in Civic Center Park, wind through downtown past more than a dozen of Denver’s distinctive landmarks, and end in front of Coors Field. No reservations needed and tours are every day – rain, snow, or shine.  There’s no up-front cost for this fun, educational opportunity for kids and parents but tipping is strongly recommended. If you’d like a tour specifically geared to your kids, Denver Walking Tours offers group tours for a nominal charge so grab your friends for a fun day of learning this summer!

Childbirth Center Grand Opening. Would you like the comfort and security of a home while having professionals on-hand when you welcome your little one into the world? Welcome to Baby + Company, Wheat Ridge’s new childbirth center that not only offers a warm, comfortable place to welcome your little one into the world but also prenatal and post-baby support. They will be hosting a grand opening on Saturday, May 30 from noon-4 p.m. There will be food, prizes, children’s activities and gift bags for everyone who takes a tour.

Safeway. You may have heard that nine Safeway stores are going out of business around June 13 in the Denver-metro area including three in Aurora. The close-out stales have started and discounts range from 5-50%. Of course, the final business days will have the best sales. Stores that are closing:

AILLEA Grand Opening. Larimer Square, Denver’s most beautiful and historic block, welcomed an exciting new retailer. Luxury beauty boutique AILLEA opened its doors at 1408 Larimer Street on April 30th selling exclusively toxin-free makeup, skincare and cosmetics. On May 21st, AILLEA will host a grand opening cocktail party from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Attending guests will receive 15% off their purchases that evening.

Film on the Rocks. There’s no better place to hear a band or watch a movie than at the iconic Red Rocks Amphitheater. This season, 9 movies will be featured and each film will be preceded by a live concert and comedian. The line-up this year: May 23 – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1, June 2 – Super Troopers, June 9 – The Shining, June 15 – The Princess Bride,June 23 – Jurassic Park, July 31 – Pretty Woman, August 26 – The Breakfast Club, August 31 – Guardians of the Galaxy and September 2 – TBA. The movie starts at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.); gates open 6:30 p.m. and bands play at 7 p.m. Cost: $12 in advance (the price goes up if you wait, however there is a $3 convenience fee if you purchase tickets online. Parking and the hike up the amphitheater are free!

AMF & Brunswick Bowling Centers are offering children 15 and under three games of summer bowling from May 18 through September 7 for the low price of $21.95(or $24.95 at a few locations). Passes are good Monday to Friday from open to 8 p.m. and Saturday & Sunday from open to 4 p.m. Go here to register. Grown-ups can get in on the deal, too and can purchase an AMF Summer Pass with prices starting at $26.95.

CarSpa. Moms have enough things to clean, so let CarSpa auto detailers clean your car. Moms are a big deal, that’s why for the month of May, Mile High Mamas get 30% off any detailing package (just mention the Mile High Mama’s discount when scheduling your appointment). Carspa is a Denver-based mobile car detailer that drives to your home or office and details your car, so you can take care of the more important things. Harkins Summer Movie Fun. Harkins Summer Movie Fun program for kids is back again this year. Kids can enjoy a movie a week for 10 weeks, for less than $1 per film. Make Harkins Summer Movie Fun for kids an annual tradition for your family. All adults must be accompanied by children.  Tickets are on sale now at participating locations. Movies this summer include: Boxtrolls, The Lorax, Rio 2, Dolphin Tale 2, Curious George, Nut Job, Puss in Boots, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, and Penguins of Madagascar.

Cinemark Movie Clubhouse. There’s nothing quite like spending a hot day in a cool movie theater. Cinemark has a 10-week film fest of its own: $5 for 10 movies when purchased in advance at cinemark.com.  If you delay and purchase at the theater, movies are still just $1. Most locations start on Wednesday, June 2 with screenings starting at 10 a.m. every Tuesday and/or Wednesday. The film line-up includes The Croods, The LEGO Movie, Dolphin Tale 2, Mr. Peabody & Sherman, Penguins of Madagascar, Night At The Museum: Secret of the Tomb, How to Train Your Dragon 2, Alvin and The Chipmunks: Chip Wrecked, Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Dog Days and The Nut Job

Barnes & Noble Summer Reading. Kids can earn a free book of their won from Barnes & Noble (one of my favorite stores) in three easy steps. Step 1: Read any 8 books and record them in the Reading Journal (PDF). Step 2: Bring the completed Reading Journal to your local B&N store. (Find a Store). then Step 3: choose a FREE BOOK from our selection on the Reading Journal list at the store… Enjoy reading!
