The Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS) Office of Children Youth and Families (OCYF), in partnership with the Denver Film Society, is hosting the Colorado Foster Care and Adoption Film Festival Saturday, January 24.
That day is also the debut of the 2015 Colorado Heart Gallery photo exhibit. The Colorado Heart Gallery is a professional photographic exhibition of children across the state who are waiting to be adopted.
The festival will include the Denver premiere of Black or White, starring Kevin Costner and Octavia Spencer, and written and directed by Mike Binder. The film is based on a true story that explores the idea of kinship parenting and transracial family relationships. Other films will be featured during the day-long festival.
“We are honored to showcase such a remarkable group of films at this event,” said Julie Krow, director, OCYF. “Our hope is that this event will bring awareness to Colorado kids waiting for adoptive families and the ongoing need for foster families to care for our children.”
The Colorado Foster Care & Adoption Film Festival begins at 11 am January 24 at the Sie FilmCenter. Tickets are limited and are on sale now.
