Back in my single, professional days, I used to sleep through the night like it was my job. Now, as a mom of a toddler, my mind sifts through countless worries before I can drift off to a guarded, easily-startled sleep. I ponder simple things like, “Did we brush his teeth well enough tonight?” then on to more complex issues like, “Am I teaching him enough about good eating habits?”
I know if we forget to brush his teeth one night, it won’t make his teeth fall out. But how many missed brushings signal to him that brushing our teeth isn’t that important of a habit?
Many of my worries are ongoing battles that are hard to gauge progress. My husband and I try to feed Max a variety of foods, and he has an adorably adventurous attitude towards new foods. He nibbles on brussels sprouts and tomatoes as I’m getting dinner ready some nights! But, he also loves sweet treats – he gets way too excited when he sees a cookie, and I already know how easy it is to make him happy by offering him a snack cup. Am I setting him up for a lifetime of bad eating habits?
That’s why I turn to 9Health Fair. My efforts at home are only half the battle as we attempt to raise healthy kids. At 9Health Fair, our family has access to tons of medical professionals that help keep us on the right track. With free health screenings like height/weight/BMI, vision, and hearing, families can check in on their health without scheduling a variety of costly doctor visits.
I never would’ve thought that 9Health Fair was for us, since we’ve always stayed on top of our Well-Child Visits and annual exams. But, 9Health Fair goes beyond that. We learn new family activities, and have access to free screenings like oral, vision, and hearing, that I normally wouldn’t ask for at our primary care physician’s office. Plus, visiting 9Health Fair is just a reminder to my family that our health is truly a year-round journey.
Adults can get low-cost bloodwork like the Blood Chemistry Screening – this simple blood test provides important baseline information on cholesterol, blood glucose, liver, kidneys, thyroid, and more. This information can help you and your doctor monitor your health to prevent health issues from becoming big problems. Rest assured that YOU are taken care of, too!
My shortcomings can be made up for at 9Health Fair – by showing our kids at an early age how important it is to put stock into their health, maybe they’ll start to forget about the cookie jar, and learn the habits that make them feel good from the inside out.
If your worries (big and small!) keep you up at night, let 9Health Fair help. You can sleep better at night knowing you have done everything you can to be healthy and model healthy habits for your kids.
