It’s that time of year again and cold weather adds another layer to the morning madness – gathering hats, gloves, boots and making a hot breakfast before kids head off to school. According to the Johnsonville Sausage Report (yep, that exists!), almost half of moms (40%) say that everyone fends for themselves because it is so chaotic in the morning.
Can anyone else relate?
The reality is not only is breakfast the most important meal of the day but by powering our kids up with protein results in increased energy and mental focus, not to mention they make them feel full for longer.
This morning on 9News, I’ll be bundling up with Johnsonville’s NEW Fully Cooked Breakfast Sausage to provide a protein-packed hot breakfast to keep you and the kids fueled throughout the day.
Here are some tips to help parents transition into the cooler weather with ease:
SAUSAGE, APPLE AND PANCAKE KABOBS – Kabobs aren’t just for the grill anymore and dinner for breakfast is a huge trend. Here’s one that kids will love. Find the full recipe here.
SHOE HANGER HACK – Use a shoe hanger to hold hats, gloves and even snacks for the kids as they hurry out the door. 30 Second Mom Elisa All says the best way to save time in the morning is to use a shoe organizer to keep hats, gloves, scarves, snacks and school supplies handy. This will eliminate the all too common mad search for the “other glove” in the morning!
MORNING IN A MUG – Need a quick breakfast as you sit in carpool? In just 30 seconds, you can have a tasty and warm breakfast on the go. Eggs and cheese and sausage, oh my! Be sure to check-out the recipe below!

Love these cups. Also recommend adding lots of fun add-ons like peppers and onions.
