If you want to be a cool mom during the summer, you don’t need to allow your son to light Roman Candles in the cul-de-sac. You don’t need to negotiate bikini styles with your daughter. All you need to do is sign up your child for Sports Authority’s Football Field Day, which was held for the first time recently here in the Mile High City.
“We are very pleased with the turnout and success of our first Sports Authority Football Field Day,” said Paul M. Okimoto, Chief Marketing Officer of Sports Authority, of the June 29th event. “We partnered with USA Football’s Heads Up initiative with the goal of providing an on-field clinic for tomorrow’s football stars that focused on player safety before the upcoming season. We wanted to help families and young athletes throughout the Denver area understand how to play the sport in a safer but still fun manner, and we believe Sports Authority Football Field Day achieved just that.”
My son and his cousin and I agree.
Along with 448 other youngsters, Reed and Dominic entered the hallowed grounds through a giant Broncos helmet.
We were welcomed, and reminded of our altitude.
The boys put on their game faces. And helmets.
While waiting for the even to start, we visited sponsors. One of them (the bottom of the collage) offered a welcome product for that sizzling hot day — Endura Cool Instant Cooling Towels. They care for athletes and their spectators with patented chemical-free cooling. The sample I was given was heavenly and I highly recommend.
Linebacker Danny Travathan graciously signed autographs for participants.
Finally it was time to enter the field. The view took this fan’s breath away.
Oh, yeah. We were there for the kids. Who eventually took the field by storm.
They got to see themselves on the big screen (incidentally, where I proposed to Reed’s father 20 years ago).
Reed practiced his moves.
We went retro with the original meaning of #hashtag.
We left excited and happy.
My son and nephew have already recruited me to be the Best! Mom! Ever! again next summer.
