Denver’s Sale Insider and Cheap Checklist: Free Days, Horseback Riding and More!

posted by:

Free Horseback Riding for Mom

Sombrero Stables at Snow Mountain Ranch in Granby is offering free horseback rides for moms the weekend of May 10th – 11th. Moms just need to be with one paying customer to receive their free ride on Mother’s Day Weekend. Enjoy beautiful views of the Continental Divide as you ride through varying terrain; thick spruce forests, paths beside beaver ponds and mountain streams. Let the wranglers point out the local wildlife: elk, deer, moose, black bear, and coyote roam the property freely and make frequent appearances. Just a 90 minute drive from Denver, Sombrero Stables has something for everyone. Kids who aren’t ready for a full length trail ride can take a lead-around ride on a pony. Guests can also visit the Snow Mountain Farm. -Amber Johnson

Taco run

Taco Bell is offering savings “cheapskates” would go to bat for anytime. The day following a game in which the Colorado Rockies score seven runs or more (win or lose), fans can score four tacos for $2 between 4 and 6 p.m. at participating locations. Thirsty? Add a medium drink for just 50 cents more. With so many games, there will be plenty of chances to make a taco run. A family could easily eat for under $10 and probably still have a few tacos left over. Limit one offer per person.

Denver cleans up

Embrace spring cleaning in a big way during the Great Denver Cleanup. On April 26, Denver residents (bring proof of Denver residency) can clean their homes or neighborhoods and take unwanted items to 10 drop-off locations between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. There’s no charge to dispose of mattresses, carpet, plastic shelving, scrap metal, appliances (without freon), indoor & outdoor furniture, bikes, toys, BBQ grills, housewares, clothing, shoes, sports equipment, lawn mowers and more. Reusable items will be collected at all sites by Goodwill Industries. Reusable building materials will be collected by Habitat ReStore at the North High School site only. For a list of sites, as well as acceptable and unacceptable items, call 311 or check the website.

Here’s the scoop

Ice cream is always a sweet treat — even sweeter when it’s a good deal. From April 22 to April 24, participating Baskin-Robbins shops are scooping out the savings. Get a single scoop for $1, two scoops for $2 or three scoops for $3. The combinations are endless, as you choose from its famous 31-flavor line-up. It’s also a chance for kids to sample the new The Amazing Spider-Man 2 flavor.

Chew on this

This deal has bite. The good folks at Summit Family Dentistry (12999 W. Bowles Drive in Littleton) are offering free dental care to any adult 18 years or older on April 26 from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Patients can choose a complete cleaning, tooth extraction or dental filling at no charge. All services are first-come first-served. No appointments are accepted. Last year a line formed the evening before. However, if you don’t plan to camp out, arrive as early as possible on Saturday morning. To make the wait a bit more fun, organizers plan games with prize giveaways from local businesses.
