Nightmare on Curtis Street: A Spooky Staycation at Denver’s Quirkiest Hotel

Nightmare on Curtis Street: A Spooky Staycation at Denver’s Quirkiest Hotel

Here’s the thing about haunted hotels. I’ve always been fascinated by them but when push comes to shove, do I really want a ghost encounter giving me nightmares?

That answer is a resounding “NO!” But Nightmare on Curtis Street,  on the other hand, is more up my haunted alley.  The Curtis- a DoubleTree by Hilton in the heart of Denver has dreamed up a fun staycation for Denver families to have a memorable…and fun Halloween! Their package includes:

·         Overnight accommodations on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2013 on the 13th floor (which is “haunted” and has loads of spooky characters roaming around!)

·         Haunted amenity with frightful food.shining

·         Disco Brunch on Sunday morning at The Corner Office, including bottomless Bloody Marys and Mimosas (the brunch is their standard disco brunch, which is music, indulgent food and killer disco costumes.)

·         Valet parking

Not familiar with The Curtis- a DoubleTree by Hilton? This lively pop-culture hotel is dedicated to all-things quirky. Case in point: Last summer’s pop-up, inflatable room that rose 22 feet in the air.

The hallway of every floor (with 16 stories) is themed differently–from One-hit Wonders to the Big Hair Floor to the Dance floor. The ground-floor lobby is playful with Saturday morning cartoons broadcasting all day every day and rumor has it the hotel has been known to set-up impromptu hula hoop contests and organize Guitar Hero tournaments on the Wii in the lobby. If you love board games, the lobby has a giant Jenga set and many favorites like Yahtzee, Monopoly and Chinese Checkers are available to check-out.

Family Staycation Idea

If you’d like to make a weekend of it, be sure to also check-out Elitch Gardens’ Fright Fest 2013, Trick-or-Treat Street at the Children’s Museum of Denver, or Boo at the Zoo!

The Curtis- a DoubleTree by Hilton is located at 1405 Curtis Street and the Nightmare on Curtis Street package for Saturday, Oct. 26 starts at $236/night.  303.571.0300;  http://www.thecurtis.com/a-nightmare-on-curtis-street.

  1. Gotta tell you The Curtis is FUN. Stayed there with the kids before we moved to Denver. Not necessarily for the little-littles but elementary aged and up will love it.

  2. Are you kidding me? My kids would go crazy for this.
