Valentine’s Day is sneaking up on us and is less than two weeks away. Rather than scrambling at the last minute, it’s nice to think ahead and be prepared to make those near and dear feel loved and appreciated. At our house, Valentine’s Day isn’t just a big deal for my husband and me but also a day we try to show lots of lots to our kids (read: lots of candy, cards and hugs). If you want to step outside the norm this year and get creative with your gifts, below are some unconventional ideas for the tech lovers in your life.
Miniot Wooden Case Personalized ($107) is a long-lasting way to remind your loved one you care. These gorgeous handcrafted cases come in a variety of woods (walnut, cherry, padouk, wenge, oak, mahogany, or maple) and buyers have the option to include a personalized engraved message or picture on the back of each case. Now you can carve your initials in a wooden iPhone case…not just a tree.
Wacom Bamboo Splash Tablet ($79) is the perfect (yet unconventional) gift for the art lover in your family. This is the perfect way to explore digital graphic design on a desktop computer. Touch up photos or create original masterpieces with this amazing little splash pad. Drawing with a pencil-like object is so much easier than drawing with a mouse.
“You can replicate pencils, chalks, oils and watercolors as you move the Bamboo pen naturally across the tablet. Create your own effects, experiment and share your stuff with others digitally. Most of all, have some fun! Everything you need to get started is right in the box, including an exclusive suite of software from Ambient Design and Autodesk.” Now, if that’s not hours of “I love you” proof in a box for budding artists, I don’t know what is.
Hulu Premium ($7.99) is the perfect “I love you.” gift for the tv geek in your life who doesn’t have cable or a DVR due to a tight budget. This is a really great way to catch network tv shows and keep up with your favorites (and vintage shows alike). Each new episode is available to watch online (or on your mobile device) the day after it airs. Great for tv lovers who are always o the go and never have time to sit down in their living room to catch a full show. Needless to say, I’m a big fan of Hulu Premium.
Red Stamp Cards FREE for iOS is a gorgeous app for designing and sending cards (both electronically and by mail). The elegant options for Valentines Day will appropriately suite whatever mood you need to create (silly, romantic, quirky, etc). Sending cards electronically is free. There is a fee for sending cards by mail, but saving you a trip to the post office is really convenient if you’re in a rush but still want to send heartfelt greetings to loved ones.
iPad Mini (starting at $329) is for those who really want to treat their loved ones this Valentine’s Day. I have to admit, I was skeptical about the mini when it first came out, but after having some hands-on time with this little beauty, I’m sold. It’s incredibly portable and can easily slide in and out of large pockets and purses. Let’s just say, if you get this gadget for your sweetheart, it’ll feel like Christmas.

Does the fact I want all of these mean I’m a geek? 🙂 Great list!

Call me old fashioned, but I still like getting jewelry for Valentine’s Day. I’m really liking the his and hers initial charm pendants: http://www.brilliantearth.com/news/valentines-day-gifts/
You have a great list compiled.. although I’m thinking more for under my Christmas tree 😉
