Denver Deal: Happy Mom’s Day, Stamp Out Hunger, Urban Sitter, and more

I love it when my daughter calls me “adventure mommy.” It’s a moniker that I am proud to sport. I like to do more than sit at home and watch the Disney Channel (no disrespect) so I love to take my kids to fun and interesting places. As matter of fact, this last weekend we went to a place called Jumpoline Park in Aurora. Great place to go. The inside is just a bunch of trampolines and there is even a caged off area where we could play dodge ball against one another (the kids ganged up and beat me) or challenge each other to a game of Hoops (I’m not good at basketball when I’m standing still let alone when I’m jumping up and down). We weren’t there for a party – we kinda created our own!

Specials for Moms Day

Mother’s Day is Sunday, May 13th – but I am already seeing some great Mother’s Day Freebies. TCBY has a sign up that says “Mom’s eat free” and at Tokyo Joe’s when you purchase a bowl Mom gets her choice of a regular bowl, 8 piece sushi or a big salad and a fountain drink.  I’ll post more next week – but if you see any please email me. Caribou Coffee is offering a BOGO (Buy One Get One) coffee drink on Mother’s Day.

Stamp Out Hunger
1 in 7 Coloradoans are facing hunger. YOU can make a difference on May 12 for Stamp Out Hunger, the nation’s largest one day food drive. Just place your bag of non-perishable food by your mailbox and your letter carrier will collect it. Items like canned meats, soup, bottled juice, vegetables, pasta, cereal and rice are needed!

Storytime at Tattered Cover LoDo
Local celebrity and mom of two, Dayle Cedars of Channel 7News, will do a special guest reading of the classic tale “Peter Pan” at Tattered Cover in LoDo (1628 16th Street at Wynkoop) on Tuesday, May 8 at 1 p.m. This year’s Birthday Bash for the museum theme is “Never Never Grow Up,” inspired by The Adventures of Peter Panby J.M. Barrie. The reading is to generate excitement about the upcoming fundraiser and serve as a nod to the importance of early literacy and reading to children.
