I had just one New Year’s resolution: get in awesome shape. Though I workout daily, I can’t say I’ve reached that awesome status.
Then an email about the HealthONE Red Rocks Fitness Challenge arrived in my inbox and my friend Tina and I are going to Just Do It!
This challenge will be held May 1-July 28 and is about setting attainable goals as you work with a team lead by a professional trainer a medical doctor and nutritionist. The Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre’s legendary stage and steps will turn into an outdoor gym, complete with circuit training stations, hiking, yoga and more, one morning each weekend for 90 days. The program includes pre-and post fitness assessments, a one-hour mandatory workout each Saturday or Sunday morning from 7-8 a.m. at Red Rocks, at-home exercise plans, ongoing nutrition and health advice.
Each of the 350 participants will receive a t-shirt, awards, and opportunities to win excellent prize packages. Prize packages including Southwest Airline vouchers, Red Rocks VIP concert packages, City of Denver Parks & Recreation memberships, golf lessons, personal training sessions and more.
Worried about your summer travels? Don’t. I mentioned to the team I have some vacations planned and they said I could workout around them. Plus, I could always exercise while on vacation as well.
Who knew?
The registration deadline is Sunday, April 15 (or until they reach 350 participants). It’s $150, less than $2 a day, cheaper than any gym. Go to their Facebook page for details. All fitness levels are invited to participate.
