A Guide to Children’s Music Classes in Denver

Music has shaped the way I live my life. Through songs that make me laugh and songs that make me cry, music has always been an important part of my life.

But I’m not sure we really understand and appreciate how beneficial music is to a child’s development. In a study conducted by the International Journal of Music Education, music was found to aid in language development, literacy, numeracy, measures of intelligence, general attainment, creativity, fine motor coordination, concentration, self-confidence, emotional sensitivity, social skills, teamwork, self-discipline and relaxation.

Below is a list of great organizations that offer classes that will help your child develop an appreciation for music.

  3. Great ideas Nicole!!! As a Developmental Psyche major, I found that their are literally hundreds of studies documenting the benefits of music in a childs life! Unfortunately, the powers to be who continually cut music programs in our schools, have not taken the time to realize this! Thanks for reminding parents that they can enrich their childs life and their development with a little music!

  7. Hi all!

Wanted to let you know that Altitunes is now located at 2400 Gray St. in Edgewater.

All classes are led by a teacher who is both a board certified music therapist and a neurologic music therapist.

Classes are between $6-8 each, offered on a drop-in basis and are specific to developmental milestones/age. For example: Beboppin’ Babies is for newborns-sitting.

  8. Hi all,
