**CONTEST CLOSED. THANKS TO WINNER KRYSTAL TUBBS!**
I’ll admit that I didn’t know the backstory of Walt Disney Pictures feature film, SECRETARIAT.
Spoiler alert if you’re as clueless as I was: The horse kicks some serious tail.
On January 25th, Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment releases SECRETARIAT on Blu-ray, DVD, & movie download. I felt bereft to miss this feature film when it was in theatres so was thrilled to watch it on DVD with my family last week. Starring Diane Lane and John Malkovich, this movie follows the spectacular journey of an incredible horse named Secretariat and the moving story of his unlikely owner Penny Chenery, a housewife who risked everything to make him a champion.
The movie is 123 minutes so I was unsure how my 4-year-old son would react. Quite predictably, he lost interest after an hour during the “slow parts” as he called it (grown-ups would call it the fascinating backstory) but he emerged whenever SECRETARIAT raced. Conversely, my 6-year-old daughter and I screamed, squealed and cried our way through the entire movie.
She is already begging to see the never-before-seen bonus features that include how they choreographed the races and a conversation with the real Penny Chenery.
Just in case you missed the trailer.
Mile High Mamas is giving away a copy of the Blu-ray + DVD Combo Pack of SECRETARIAT (a $39.99 value). Please go here to enter. Contest deadline is February 3, 2011.
