Mile High Mamas Bring Jewels for Hope to The Blues Jeans Bar

Take a bar full of blue jeans, a fantastic charity, darling jewelry and you have Mile High Mamas’ latest night out.

In style.

On Wednesday, Mile High Mamas partnered with The Blues Jeans Bar in Cherry Creek to host a fun evening for about 25 of Colorado’s social media moms.

Not familiar with the store? The Blues Jeans Bar is modeled after the concept of a friendly neighborhood pub and blues are housed behind an old growth wood bar. With more than 40 lines for both men and women, “jean-tenders” cater to every body type, outfitting customers with their favorite brand, wash, size and style.

November is National Diabetes Month and Mile High Mamas partnered with charity-driven Mom It Forward to welcome the wonderful ladies from the Children’s Diabetes Foundation. We were introduced to their Jewels of Hope fundraising program, which is a fun and easy way for you to make a difference.

How it works: Simply collect your old jewelry (real or costume) and donate it. Jewels of Hope has several events during the year where they sell the jewelry and the profits go directly back to the Foundation.

After donating our jewelry, Mile High Mamas mosied on over to where Jen from Premier Designs Jewelry had setup a darling and affordable treasure-trove of her own. Fifteen percent of her profits went to Jewels of Hope.

We were delighted to meet Mrs. Colorado American Renaissance 2011, Mechelle Beddoe, a wife, mother and volunteer from the Fort Collins area. Unlike most pageants that are beauty-focused, this is a platform-based pageant that rewards women who are active in their communities, families, and careers.

Finally, a pageant that makes a difference.

And a Mama’s Night Out where we could make ours.

Mile High Mamas’ Nights Out are for Colorado’s social media moms who are active on Twitter, Facebook or blogs. Be sure to contact us if you are interested in getting on our mailing list.

Finding the Perfect Pair of Jeans for Modern Moms

“Mom jeans” no longer have a bad rap in the fashion world. Modern moms are wearing the latest fashionable and functional styles that transition easily from day to night. Follow the tips below to find the ultimate jeans for your busy lifestyle:

Less Is More. Avoid embellished jeans with rhinestones, heavy stitching, or fading, especially for trendy styles like skinny jeans and jeggings. Pair these form-fitting jeans with classic tops and boots for an effortlessly stylish ensemble. Choose medium to dark washed denim for a sophisticated and slimming look.

Pick Your Pockets Wisely. Small back pockets flatter small bottoms, while larger pockets complement larger bottoms. Cargo or square style front pockets draw attention to the lower body, so they look best on women with smaller hips and thighs.

Keep it Snug. All denim has some stretch, so jeans should fit snuggly in the dressing room to prevent getting too big over time. Jeans that pull at the seams and show crease marks are too tight. Look for medium to high rise styles to help pull your stomach in and cover your bottom.

Invest in quality. Plan to spend money on a quality pair of jeans. The design and fit of higher end brands will hug your body in all the right places. Don’t be afraid to get tailoring done to the waist or pant length for the perfect fit. If you wear heels, you will need at least one pair of jeans for heels and one pair for flats.

  1. Y’all always have so much fun at your nights out that I need to become a social media mom.

I’ve never even heard of the Blues Jeans Bar but need to check it out. Finding a pair of jeans that fits is so hard for me. Thanks for the tips!

  2. This is very cool!

BTW- I miss not being able to leave comments on your other blog. 🙁

  3. Thanks, ladies. I know, I’m bummed to close comments at my personal blog but I’ve had such a huge problem with Asian spammers (even using the word verification) that I’ve had no choice but to temporarily close them down.

  4. As always I had a blast. I love that our nights out give us the chance to check out new places, store and things while also getting to help out a spotlight some awesome causes and charities.

The Blues Jean Bar had some seriously drool worthy denim and the jewelry on display from both Jewels for hope and Premier Designs was gorgeous.

  5. What a fun night! You can’t beat mixing with friends and trying on fabulous clothes.

    I love MileHighMamas.

    I love MileHighMamas.

  7. Thanks for another fun event! So sad I had to come late and leave early. Such is the life of a mom I suppose! LOL

  8. MileHighMamas always coordinates such great gatherings. Finally jeans that look good on my thighs:) The Blue Jean Bar girls certainly know what they are doing! Thank you for arranging such a fun evening. The addition of Jewels for Hope was a great idea!

  9. I was that lame person that no-showed at this event and I’m sad. However my infant was a little off on Wednesday day and indeed that night he had his first illness, a pretty violent stomach bug. So I am glad I didn’t go and bring him… better to keep our ickies in our own home. I will have to go check out this Jean Bar once I stop dropping post-natal weight.

  10. It was a lovely night with lovely friends! Thanks for having us!
