Featured Mom Blogger: Suzanne from Crunchy Green Mom

What is the name of your blog? Crunchy Green Mom

How did you choose this name? I am started on the whole eco-friendly path when I was taking out trash one day. There were seven of us, my six kids and I, it took four trips to the curb one day. Four trips… that is just silly! There had to be a better way, cloth baby wipes, reusing milk containers and formula cans. So when I started blogging, I had to come up with a name that fit me. I am a mom, I am on the green path and I am Crunchy. (I fit the Boulder image more than anything.)

How did you get started blogging? I used to do a daily e-letter to my friends called “This Week in History”. One of my friends told me that I should start up a blog with it and the “Lilithology” blog was started for my This Week in History e-letter. Then I started looking at other blogs, found giveaways, won a set of earrings and was HOOKED.

What platform do you use? (I.e. Blogger, WordPress, etc.) I use Blogger. It’s easy and mindless. I needed easy and mindless.

What do you wish you had known when you started? I wish I had known about this sooner. I have met some amazing women, fallen in love with their families and root for them and their pumpkin growing husbands!

What blogs do you most admire? Of COURSE.. Mile High Mama’s. I love Crazy Adventures in Parenting – Lisa is a wonderful woman and a mother of six as well, My first bloggy friend was, Crystal, Everyday Life, Love and Happiness, we are the same age, both from Texas and very similar in our personalities. I love Nydia from Brazil at  Bringing up Salamanders and Nancy from New Life of Nancy a Roller Derby, Colorado Springs mom who is hard as nails and a TON of fun! Pregnant…without a clue was my childhood next door neighbor and best friend for 12 years. I love this girl!

What is your best tip for moms who are new to social media? Try it all. Take the video courses or go through their “New Member seminars”. They are usually free, only take about 10 minutes to watch and learn. Even if you don’t ever touch the system… learn it! Use Google Reader. It will save you soooo much time! Seriously…
