February 8, 2012 – 8:00 am | 3 Comments

In this series of blogs, the “Kid Blenders,” I will be addressing our challenges, trying to blend our two families together. The names of the children will be changed to spare the easily embarrassed. One Book, One Denver to hold various free events; what are your favorite children’s books?
January 22, 2009 – 12:00 am | No Comment

I am a huge advocate of reading. One of my earliest memories is snuggling up in my yellow canopied bed, pinning my little brother down, and reading Alice in Wonderland to him for hours.
Upon further reflection, he may not share the same fond memories.
I started attending storytime at the library when my daughter was [...]

Just call me STOKED
January 20, 2009 – 9:01 am | No Comment

I don’t like labels. Never have. Even as a kid, I hated being known as The Shy Girl. At one point I tried hard to change it and in fourth or fifth grade I was given the principal’s award for “Outstanding Citizenship.” I really had no idea what it meant at the time except that, [...]

This is our fourth winter in Colorado, and I have yet to hit the slopes.
I ski – not well, but I do ski. I was never one of those toddlers, flying down the mountain at supersonic speeds, devoid of fear. Instead, I learned to ski as a teen, on a winter break trip [...]

Resolution #78: Giving credit where credit is due
January 14, 2009 – 12:00 am | No Comment

I had always thought of myself as a fairly conscientious human being before meeting my husband. I balanced my checkbook regularly. I carried a flashlight in my glove box and stayed away from people knowingly infested with flu germs. I voted. I payed taxes. I used my turn signals, visited my dentist biannually, and applied [...]

How Chicks Who Click Are Changing Society

I received my first email account in a college Communications class back in 1994. While I thought it was innovative to interact electronically with my classmates and professor, I did not know anyone else who was online. I decided then and there this Internet thing was just a fad.
I assure you it is the only [...]
