Denver Writes is proud to announce the release of our Summer Camp 2017 Anthology! This collection features stories and plays created by talented and amazing young writers over the course of our four unique camps, inspired by their adventures in and around Denver!

Many of the young writers will be reading from their work. Bring your young readers and aspiring writers, get inspired!

“Our mission is to provide young writers in the Denver area with a supportive community and creative opportunities to express themselves through writing. We achieve this by offering monthly workshops, intensive and expeditionary summer camps, and exciting special events.”

The Colorado Breastfeeding Coalition hosts the Breastival each year as a free event for families with the purpose of connecting families to community goods and services and to help support, normalize and celebrate breastfeeding!

An Evening under the Stars with Colorado Ballet @ Arvada Center Outdoor Amphitheater

Join the stars of Colorado Ballet under the stars for a program featuring excerpts from upcoming and past productions as well as other classical and contemporary works. The production will close with a performance of Serenade by choreographer George Balanchine to Tchaikovsky’s “Serenade for Strings in C.” Colorado Ballet’s critically-acclaimed performance of Serenade features 28 dancers in ethereal blue costumes performing in front of a blue background, bathed in moonlight. Serenade was the first original ballet Balanchine created in America and is a milestone in the history of dance.

A Taste of Colorado @ Civic Center Park- Downtown Denver

A Taste of Colorado is a four-day, free admission festival produced by the Downtown Denver Partnership. The event takes place over Labor Day Weekend in Downtown Denver’s Civic Center Park. In addition to local and worldly cuisine, six music stages and shopping, there will be local artisans featured in the Arts & Crafts Marketplace, culinary demonstrations, and interactive activities, rides and games for kids. 39th Annual Park Hill Home Tour & Street Fair @ Park Hill Neighborhood

The 39th Annual Park Hill Home Tour & Street Fair will take place on Sunday, September 10th, 2017 from 11:00 AM – 5:00 PM. Tour eight homes in Denver’s most architecturally diverse neighborhood (this year’s tour homes include Colonial Revival, French Country, Mediterranean, and Tudor) and then enjoy the free Street Fair with vendors, live entertainment, food trucks, a wine & beer garden, and children’s activities. Home Tour ticket sales will begin mid-August online and September 1 in retail locations. Prices will be $20 for adults (13+) and $15 for seniors (65+) and children (7-12). Children 6 and under are free. Ticket prices increase by $5 on the day of the event so be sure to buy in advance! Visit www.parkhillhometour.org. Four amazing women share their personal stories relating to menopause, including Kerry Temple-Wood, the founder of The Art of Conscious Aging, and keynote speaker Hope Engsberg, MD, owner of AgeWellMD, an Anti-Aging Functional Medicine clinic, who will discuss:

– How and why we have menopause
– When to expect some of the changes of life
– Things to do to support these changes and optimize your life journey

Back by popular demand, Colorado Ballet will open the 2017/2018 season with the crowd-favorite Dracula. Based on Bram Stoker’s Gothic romantic horror, Dracula features enthralling choreography by Michael Pink, hypnotic music by Philip Feeney performed live by the Colorado Ballet Orchestra, and plenty of spine-tingling terror. Stock up on garlic and join us to see creepy vampires, frightening mental patients, and the king of the undead himself, Count Dracula. Please note: this ballet is not recommended for young children, it is recommended for children at least 6th grade and up.

Tiny Tots gets children truly inside the orchestra by seating the audience on the floor and surrounding them with a 30+ piece orchestra. Designed for children six and under, this 45-minute program gives young ones the chance to interact with the conductor and the musicians and learn about the instruments in the process. Tiny Tots audiences receive an up-close-and-personal performance in a casual, fun environment. The experience is one-of-a-kind!
Highlights of the Fall Tiny Tots season: Dive deep into a world of magical music full of playing pretend and storytelling this October. The orchestra will be joined by special guests from the Hannah Kahn Dance Company, Central City Opera, and more!
Performances are at 9:30 and 10:45.
