February 8, 2012 – 8:00 am | 3 Comments

In this series of blogs, the “Kid Blenders,” I will be addressing our challenges, trying to blend our two families together. The names of the children will be changed to spare the easily embarrassed. Our Interview With Bob Waliszewski : Keeping Kids Away From The Internet’s Dark Side

As parents, we want to shield our children from the filth the world is constantly spewing a them. We want their little minds to remain free of dirty, violent, and sexual images or knowledge. If monitoring their tv and movie selections wasn’t enough, now we have to worry about the internet – it’s at school, [...]

The Best Websites Kids Are Safe To Learn And Have Fun

As the summer winds down and parents focus on enjoying every last warm day outdoors with our kids, it’s hard not to think just a bit about the fall, school and days spent mostly indoors. Internet use for children becomes more frequent during the winter months due to school research and indoor boredom. As parents, [...]

Smartphone Cases That Can Survive Kids

Like just about every other mother in the world, I constantly find myself juggling children (sometimes almost literally), diaper bags, my purse, and all the other stuff we must tote as we run errands, attend appointments, go to the grocery store and everywhere else. Must-have Apps For Traveling

Whether traveling by car, sea, land or air, leaving your home area can be stressful and a bit disorienting. Recently my husband and I ventured to Wisconsin with our three children 3 years old and younger and I’m pretty sure the stress of it all took ten years off our lives. Thankfully modern technology can [...]

Mama Tech Talk: Best Apps For Learning Math

Most kids dislike math. I hated math growing up. It is a necessary skill to learn but yet can be incredibly frustrating for both children and parents. I remember having many melt downs in my jr high years over algebra.
Math is such a “building block” subject – each concept builds on the one before. If [...]

Nurturing a summer love of reading

As much as I’d like to boast that my daughter is drawn to books without school to occupy her thoughts, it is actually the computer that captures her attention.
Any number of websites or games draws her to my MacBook minutes after waking. American Girl. Poptropica. National Geographic Kids. At this point, my questions go unanswered. [...]

Mama Tech Talk App Guide: Best Apps for Learning the Alphabet

The number one category I’m requested to review apps in is education. I guess it makes sense since I’m a mom of young children and have a degree in education.
